Baked Sugar Doughnuts Recipe – Easy 3-Ingredient Biscuit Dough Hack

Baked Sugar Doughnuts Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
1 can (12 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated Buttermilk biscuits (or any brand)
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1: Heat oven to 375°F.

2: Separate dough into 12 biscuits. With 1-inch round cookie cutter, cut hole in center of each biscuit.

3:  Dip both sides of biscuits and holes into melted butter, then into sugar. Place on ungreased large cookie sheet.

4: Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Darlene’s Tips:   I have no clue if these come out anything at all like an actual donut. Even if not, I bet they are delish! You could add cinnamon to the sugar if you want. For glazed donuts, you could still dip the dough into the butter but skip the sugar and bake plain. Then make a very simple glaze with powdered sugar and water or milk until you get the glaze consistency you want (just add a few drops of liquid at a time) then dip the donuts into the glaze or drizzle the glaze over the donuts. Add sprinkles too since they will stick to the glaze! Want chocolate tops? Melt some morsels then dip the donuts into the melted chocolate and let cool. Add sprinkles before cooling if you want so they will stick.
