Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

How to Make Ice Cream in a Bag

INGREDIENTS:
½ cup half-and-half
1 tablespoon sugar
4 cups ice, crushed or cubed
6 tablespoons salt
optional: 1/2 teaspoon any flavor extract
You also need
2 small resealable bags
1 large freezer bag
Hand towel
(see my tips below)

See my Darlene’s Concoctions videos here!

DIRECTIONS:
1:  Pour the half-and-half and sugar into a small resealable bag. Add extract for flavor if desired. Seal the bag, getting rid of as much air as you can. Next, double-bag it inside another similar-sized bag.

2:  Throw crushed or cubed ice with the salt into a large freezer bag. You can use any kind of salt, as you won’t actually be eating it. The salt is there to lower the freezing point of water.

3:  Place the double bag in the larger bag, then seal it up, getting rid of as much air as possible.

4:  Wrap the bag in a hand towel and shake for about 8 minutes or until it’s thick.

5:  Remove the smaller bag and wipe it down carefully to get rid of all the salt on the outside. Squeeze out your ice cream and enjoy!

Darlene’s Tips:  This might end up being the consistency of soft serve ice cream, which is still super delish! I will for sure have to experiment with this when Skylar is here this summer.  I think I’d rather put the ingredients in a small jar and put the jar in the ice bag. Easier to scoop out of the jar or just eat straight from the jar. You can add other ingredients of your choice, chocolate chips, nuts, whatever, after the ice cream is made then mix them in. For a more firm ice cream, place in a plastic container and freeze until firm.
