Easy Apple Cheesecake Bars Recipe

2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dough sheets
2 1/2 cups finely chopped apples
2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup butter

1:  Heat oven to 350°F. Unroll 1 dough sheet and place in ungreased 13×9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish, stretching to cover and firmly pressing dough to cover bottom.

2:  In small microwavable bowl, microwave the chopped apples uncovered on High 2 to 3 minutes, stirring after each minute, until apples are softened.

3:  In medium bowl, mix cream cheese and 1 cup of the sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Stir in apple mixture, and spread on top of dough in baking dish.

4:  Unroll remaining dough sheet, and carefully place on top of cream cheese layer, slightly stretching to cover.  Carefully pour melted butter onto dough, and brush to spread evenly over top.  Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup sugar over top of dough.

5:  Bake 28 to 33 minutes or until dough is deep golden brown and baked through. Cool on cooling rack 1 hour then refrigerate 2 hours. Store leftovers in refrigerator.

Darlene’s Tips: Serve with a dollop of whipped topping or a side of ice cream and some caramel syrup or all of that stuff!  You could add chopped nuts to this recipe if you like.  And I’m quite sure you could do this as a pie using ready-made pie crusts instead of the crescent dough sheets. You could also skip the butter and extra sugar on top and just keep the top plain.
