Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not make this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk (NOT sweetened condensed)
1 can (11 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated original breadsticks
1 bag (12 oz) frozen mixed vegetables
DIRECTIONS:
1: In large pot, heat the evaporated milk, 4 1/2 cups hot water and the chicken to boiling over high heat.
2: Separate the breadsticks and cut into 1-inch pieces with kitchen scissors. Drop them into the boiling mixture. Reduce heat and simmer 12 to 14 minutes, stirring frequently, until dumplings are cooked through.
3: Boil the mixed vegetables and drain.
4: Remove the chicken and dumplings from heat. Stir in vegetables and serve!

Darlene’s Tips: Want it cheesy? You can add 1 to 2 cups of your favorite shredded cheese along with the veggies. Simply cover and let stand for a few minutes to let the cheese melt. You can use leftover turkey for this recipe. You can use milk (any percent) if you don’t have evaporated. It just won’t be as rich in flavor. Whole milk would work the best. If you can’t find the breadsticks dough, pieces of refrigerated biscuits should turn out just as good. Maybe better!
