CVS has their little jugs of Xtra laundry detergent, 28 loads, on sale this week for $1.49, no coupon needed! They have this sale every now and then and when they do, I use up any ExtraBucks I have on hand and stock up!
Frugal Tip – Double Your Detergent
You can double your Xtra detergent to get more for your money by cutting the detergent with water and adding Borax or Arm & Hammer Washing Soda to the mix (find those in the detergent aisle, both are cheap at Walmart, around $3-ish per box).
- Pour half the jug of detergent into another equal size jug
- Add 1/2 cup of Borax or Washing Soda to each jug
- Add a couple squirts of any dish soap to each jug
- Fill each jug with water then turn a few times to mix
That’s all there is to it! You just turned one jug of detergent into two and got double for your money! You will be tempted to use more detergent because it’s watered down, but don’t. Just use your normal amount. The Borax or Washing Soda adds the cleaning boost you need and the dish soap gives you the suds you desire :O)
If you find that your Borax or Washing Soda clumps, next time you can dilute it first in a cup of hot water then add to the jug. I always turn the jug to mix each time before I use it. You can also toss a little scrap of bar soap in the jug if you like. Great way to use up those scraps of soap!

My friend Pat found an awesome deal at the Sanford Hannaford! Right now you can pick up a 4 ft Extending Snow Brush (sorta kinda like the one in the pic, but not quite) that was originally priced at $8.99 for only 27¢ (plus tax)! Yes, you read that right!
Here’s the deal:
Snow Brush, reg $8.99, on clearance for $2.27
Use this $2 OYNO Hannaford Coupon
Final price is just 27¢ (plus tax)
At the Sanford store, these snow brushes were by the self scan, but they moved them to the end of an aisle sort of by the seasonal stuff. I bet they will move them again, so if you don’t find them ask someone! They had maybe 15 left! Hurry! Buy now for next winter!
Thanks for the heads up Pat!

If I thought there was a chance in H E double L that I could really grow bananas indoors, I would buy 10 of these trees! But, I’d have to remember to water them, right?
Does anyone have any experience at all with indoor banana trees or indoor pepper plants? I think I might be able to keep a pepper plant alive, but I would give anything to be able to grow bananas.
Just click the images for more info. WARNING! Turn your volume down so you don’t jump out of your chair like I did! That guy’s voice scared me!

Right now, through Saturday, you can pick up a bag of Gold Emblem jelly beans at CVS for $.99 and get $.99 ExtraBucks to use on your next purchase! You do not need a coupon!
So, if you were to turn around and use the $.99 to pick up another bag of jelly beans, you would get the second bag free, but you would not get another $.99 ExtraBucks because there is just one ExtraBucks per card. You would, however, end up with 2 bags of jelly beans for only $.99 total!
ROLLOVER: If you have a $1 Extrabucks, use it to get your first bag for FREE! Even though the total is only $.99, they can adjust it. You only lose a penny. Worth it.
CVS in Sanford has plenty of these jelly beans, so stop by and get a bag! They have spice, black and speckled! I had $1 EBs on my card and also $1 EBs on my mother’s card so I was able to score 2 free bags! I got speckled and spiced!

Use (4) $.70/1 Keebler Club Crackers coupons (NLA)

CVS has been running awesome deals where if you spend $30 on certain items, you will get a gift card for $10 to use on anything in the store (it prints on your receipt and they will put it on a gift card for you).
Each week the items change, so you need to sit down with the flyer (or look at it online at CVS.com) to see what items you might be able to buy this week. You will see little green CVS Cash images on each participating item on the flyer and also in the store.
You do NOT have to spend $30 all in one trip, but you MUST spend it during the week of the sale. Check the bottom of your receipt to see how much you spent toward your total. If you ever come up short, there are usually some cheap participating items you can add on (like a candy bar) to bring your total up to $30.
You can do this deal 5 times on one CVS card. It’s still a good idea to shop in $30 blocks so you can use the $10 you just earned to pay down the next bill.
You can use coupons to pay down the total! You just have to reach $30 (a few pennies less is usually okay) before coupons (and before tax).
There are many, many, many ways to spend $30 on participating items. Below are just a couple of scenarios. You can mix and match any of the participating items!
Remember, if you plan to do more than one scenario, do one first then use the $10 you earn to pay down the next one… and so one. You can also use any ExtraBucks you have to pay the total down!
The coupons I mention may no longer be available and may not match the exact item. You will need to look them up and see if you can use them.
Buy (4) Scott 1000 sheets per roll 12-packs at $7.49 each
Total is $29.96 (this should be close enough to $30 to trigger the $10 cash back)
Check for coupons in the 1/15 SmartSource insert
Buy (6) Scott paper towels mega rolls 6-packs at $5 each
Total is $30
Check for coupons in the 1/15 SmartSource insert
Or you could buy 2 packs of toilet paper and 3 packs of paper towels… total $29.98… see how it works?
Below are just some of the other items that you can mix and match to reach $30:
Buy (4) Coke 12-packs for $10 (some areas are 4/$12)
NOTE: you are only allowed up to (4) 12-packs at this price, so you need to match with other items, but this is a great price for 12-packs!
$.99/1 Coke Zero coupon
Mars Chocolate Bars, $1.50 each
King Size or 8 ct Fun Pack
Check for coupons in Jan issue of All You magazine
Hershey’s Kisses Big Bag (and others), $4.99
Check for coupons in 1/8 SmartSource insert
Coke 2-liter, 3 for $4, or $1.34 each
Limit 3 per CVS card
$.99/1 Coke Zero coupon
Nabisco Wheat Thins, Triscuit, Ritz, More, $2.50
Check for $3/3 (or $2/3) coupons in 1/8 SmartSource insert
Cottonelle toilet paper 18-pack, $10
Check for coupons in 1/15 SmartSource insert and in Nov All You magazine
Kleenex tissues, $1.50
Check for coupons in 1/1 SmartSource insert

UPDATE: Sorry folks, the coupon is for Hasbro, and is seems the card game is by Mattel, so we can’t use the coupon on the card game. You can still print and use on the Hasbro Pictionary game.
I just got done telling you that there were some new game coupons available to print, and I also mentioned that you can sometimes get CHEAP card games with those coupons. Well, looks like that’s about to happen!
The Pictionary coupon has NO restrictions, so you can use it on the Pictionary card game at Walmart that should be priced around $5.88. After the coupon, you will get the card game for just 88¢, give or take (price might be regional).
What a nice little non-sugary treat to give to someone for Valentine’s Day or to tuck into an Easter basket!
