I did this today, will let know if saving star works out 🙂

CVS had BOGO on All last week, and I got the savings Star Credit for my purchase.

The last time I bought something that was BOGO at Shaw’s with a SavingStar deal, the free ones didn’t count… are we sure they will for this?? would love to do this deal!

    Thanks Darlene!

    • Darlene

Yes, they count and they should have for whatever else you bought. They ring up and that’s all that savingstar cares about. The “free” one comes off and that’s a Shaw’s deal. It has nothing to do with savingstar. Always keep your receipts until you get your refund and if it ever does not work, contact savingstar and they will make it right!

        Thanks Darlene!
The last time a deal like this came around it was KC Masterpiece. I bought enough for the deal, thinking it would work, but since the sauce was BOGO at shaw’s, it only counted half of them… so I just always assumed the freebies didn’t count!

        • Darlene

I can’t promise 100%, but maybe 99%? You have me wondering now!

          • SamanthaRey

I emailed Savingstar about how BOGO items ring up, and this was the reply I just received:

            “Hi Samantha,

Thank you for using SavingStar. For our One Or Many deals, the amount you spend at the register is the amount reported to us. If your store is running a Buy One Get One deal and one of the items rings up at $0.00, then that is the amount that will be counted toward your total spent for that item. Make sure the amount you spend at the store either equals or is more than the amount required by the coupon to be eligible for redemption.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

            Thank You,

            Amy”

That would sound like we’d need 6 detergents at $5.99 to get over the $15 required for the Savingstar discount…BUT I know that on Shaw’s receipts, the free items in a BOGO sale are listed at full price, and then there’s another line that states something like “bogo sale free item” and then deducts the price. I’m not sure if this would affect the “amount spent” that Savingstar is looking for.

If we have to buy 6 for the deal, it works out to $2.16 a bottle with no other coupons. Not sure if that price is worth it or not.

            • Darlene

I emailed them too and I’m still waiting for a reply. I’m not sure how you asked the question but I specifically said that both items ring in then one is deducted as a store sale. However, they may not understand what I mean… lol I will post here when I hear back.

              • SamanthaRey

I simply asked them about a BOGO situation. It was after I emailed them that I remembered how Shaw’s receipts end up taking off the free item after ringing it in at the full price.

                • Darlene

That is good to know that you asked that way. There is hope that I will get a different answer, but like I said, they sometimes don’t quite get it because they’ve probably never used a coupon or shopped a bogo in their life so they don’t know how to answer and use a general answer. By the way, thank you SO MUCH for investigating this! It helps me a great deal!

                  • SamanthaRey

You’re welcome. Jess’s comment above got me thinking as well.

I did this deal at CVS last weekend in conjunction with their BOGO All sale. I paid $7.99 for one and got the other bottle free. I waited to see how much money would be put toward my total in saving star hoping it would be $15.98 therefore qualifying for the $5 back. However, it only stated that I paid $7.99 and still had to spend $7.01 to receive the coupon. Do not know how it will work at shaws but just thought I would weigh in on how my transaction took place at CVS.

                    • Darlene

SavingStar gave me a vague answer saying since it rings up as ZERO it won’t be counted. This is after I explained to them that it rings up at reg price then is deducted. Shaw’s thinks it should work. I just put up a new post warning people about the deal since I can’t be sure. But, I tend to think now that it won’t work. I don’t think I’ve even used a bogo in a savingstar deal.

  • regina

i double checked the coupons and they both (2/2 and .50/1) say facebook as well as coupons.com. and great thanks 🙂

  • SamanthaRey

I was just putting this deal together. Thank you for the price check. I checked the Hannaford website and added $1 as a guess.

The $2/2 Facebook offer seems to be over (at least that’s what it told me when I tried to print). I’ve been trying to find the $0.50/1 coupon, but with no luck. If someone could point me in the right direction (direct link or zipcode to use), I’d appreciate that. Savingstar will work as long as the retail price is met, so any store sales or coupons can still be used, and you’ll still get the $5.

    Facebook I think

  • regina

there was a 2/2 and a .50/1 coupon on coupons.com … so even though you dont spend 15 out of pocket the savings star still works b/c it is worth at least/over 15? i am new to savingstar 🙂 thanks

  • Sarah Stowe

Can we sweeten this with the $2/2 printable
