Couponing for Newbies – What is the secret to saving money with coupons?

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

What is the secret to saving money with coupons?

The secret to saving money with coupons is to build a stockpile with food and other items that you got for free or for very little money. Then when you run out of something like peanut butter, instead of running to the store where you might have to pay full price, you shop from your stockpile where you paid very little for the item.  Once your stockpile is built up, you never have to pay full price for anything because you have your very own discount store to shop from!

To get free and cheap food, you must match coupons to a sale and try to shop at stores that double coupons for added savings. Even if a store does not double coupons, there are plenty of opportunities to stock up on freebies and cheapies.

In a matter of a couple of months, you can realistically cut your grocery bill in half by spending only a few hours a week on couponing. Once your stockpile is built up, you can cut your bill by as much as 70% to 80% because you will be afforded the luxury of shopping for only freebies and cheapies and will spend mostly on perishables, which you will buy on sale… and sometimes with coupons!
