Let’s see how much I can buy with the $12 I won at TOPS

I won $12 by playing the 50/50 raffle at TOPS on Wednesday night.  For most people, $12 will not go very far. But, I bet I can s-t-r-e-t-c-h that $12 and buy several hundred dollars worth of stuff! I’ve decided to turn it into a little game and I’m going to keep track of exactly how I spend that $12. Here we go…

Note: As you can see, this keeping track idea was an after thought so the purchases below are not in order. I think I’m all caught up now.

Let’s see just how much stuff I can buy for $12.00. Here’s what I got so far…

Shaw’s on 1/14 (see breakdown and coupons used here)
4 boxes Mueller’s pasta, $1.25 each
2 packages Johnsonville sausage, $3.99 each
1 bag onions, $1.49
1 whole buttercup squash in reduced produce, 78¢
Total before discounts and coupons, $15.25
Total after discounts, coupons and $2 catalina was only 1¢
I used my Penny from Heaven, so my total was zero!

Total purchases so far is $15.25
Total OOP so far is zero
I still have $12.00

8 boxes Skinny Cow, $4.99 each
Total before discounts and coupons, $39.92
Total after discounts and coupons, FREE
I paid 90¢ tax
I got $3.00 ExtraBucks for buying Skinny Cow!!!

Total purchases so far before tax is $55.17
Total OOP so far including tax is 90¢
I still have $11.10 plus $3.00 ExtraBucks for CVS, so $14.10 total which is $2.10 more than I started with!

I paid 48¢ tax

Total OOP so far including tax is $1.46
I still have $10.54 plus $3.00 ExtraBucks for CVS, so $13.54 total which is $1.54 more than I started with!
