My $12 Challenge: Mini trips to Walmart, Shaw’s and Hannaford

These shopping trips are part of my $12 Challenge (see here). I had a nice little run with freebies and overages the past few days! I actually made money this time!

at Walmart on 1/26… all FREE plus overage!
4 travel packs Band-Aids, $.97 each
1 Reach dental floss, $.97
4 boxes Wheat Thins, $1.00 each
4 boxes Chips Ahoy cookies, $1.00 each
4 boxes Oreo cookies, $1.00 each
5 packages 4-pack Rayovac AA batteries, $.97 each
6 rolls Duck brand packing tape
Used (4) $1/1 Band-Aid coupons (NLA)
Used (1) $1/1 Reach coupon (maybe here or here)
Used (4) $3/3 Nabisco coupons from insert (expired now)
Used (5) $1/1 Rayovac battery coupons (you can try here)
Used (6) $1/1 Duck brand packing tape coupons (NLA)
Total before coupons was $27.70
After coupons and overages I paid ZERO plus got $.51 overage
also found dime and nickel on the floor at register, so I walked out with $.57

at Shaw’s on 1/26… almost free!
6 cans Goya juice, reg $.89, clearance $.45 each
2 fresh lemons, $.59 each
1 bag Fresh Express salad, reg $2.99, reduced to $1.00
1 whole buttercup squash, reg approx $1.75, reduced to $.58
Used (3) $1/2 Goya product (NLA)
Used (2) FREE Lemon coupons (expired)
Used (1) $.55/1 Fresh Express (email me for Q)
Value before sales discounts and coupons was $11.26
It deducted $.03 tax
After discounts and doubled coupons I paid $.15

at Shaw’s on 1/28… FREE plus bonus overage!
4 bags Fresh Express salad, reg $2.99, reduced to $1.00 each
Used (4) $.55/1 Fresh Express (email me for Q)
Value before sales discounts and coupons was $11.96
After discounts and doubled coupons I paid ZERO and got $.40 overage
Yes, I know Shaw’s does not give overages but sometimes I get lucky :O)

At Hannaford on 1/28… one penny!
asked for $1 worth of ground beef, total was $1.03
asked for $1 worth of ground beef, total was $.99
Greek salad from deli, reg $2.99
Used (1) $2 OFF Deli coupons
Used (1) $1 OFF peelie for salad
Used (2) $1 OFF Meat coupons
Value before sales discounts and coupons was $5.01
After coupons I paid $.01

Here’s where I stand with my $12 Challenge after these transactions:

Total value of purchases so far before tax is $389.09
Total OOP so far including tax is $6.99
I started with $12.00.  I still have $5.01 cash plus $3.00 ExtraBucks for CVS, so I have $8.01 total left to spend!
