Make It Count Mondays – Weekly Challenge

I thought it would be fun to start a weekly health challenge where we all set healthy goals, whether it’s weight loss, exercise or eating better. On Mondays I’ll post my progress and ask for you to share yours (don’t worry – we don’t have to share how much we weigh — yuck), share recipes, healthy coupons and offers, exercise tips and more. Each week the participants will report the following:

  • Weight Loss (or gain) for the week
  • One positive (i.e., I took it upon myself to go for a 1 mile walk with my daughter 4 times last week).
  • One negative (i.e., I shouldn’t have had my husband run to Dairy Queen at 8:45 last night because I was having a craving — oops). 😉

If you have a large goal, try to break it down into smaller goals. I want to lose 30 pounds, so I’ll start by shooting for a 5 pound weight loss. Larger goals are more overwhelming, and often lead people to stray from their plan due to frustration. I use a free and user-friendly online calorie tracker through www.myfitnesspal.com. You can track your calories and exercise easily and the community is incredibly supportive and fun. Feel free to add me under the name “HelloHealthyJillian.”  We can cheer each other on!

Here’s a picture of my progress from 2007 – 2010 with a total weight loss of 70 pounds. Since then, I’ve had a baby and need to lose 30 pounds this time around. We’ll meet up on Mondays at Deals by Darlene and act as a support group for one another. Who wants to do this with me? If you do, please share your health goals and we’ll go from there! 🙂
