Marshmallow Treats

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

Marshmallows may be filled with sugar, but they are low in fat and calories. In my house we enjoy having the Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles treats (or even rice crispy squares) as a low calorie sweet treat from time to time. Right now you can print a coupon that’ll save you $1.00 off two packages of Post Pebbles Treats (if you haven’t tried them, you might want to print this coupon off before it disappears).

Another option is to make these treats yourself! They are easy to make and will cost you less to make. Here’s how:

Marshmallow Squares
1 bag of marshmallows of large marshmallows
6 cups of cereal (could be Post Cocoa Pebbles, Post Fruity Pebbles or Rice Crispies – I use the store brand, shocker, I know)
3 tbsp of butter (here’s a coupon for $0.50 off two pounds of Land O Lakes Butter – would be great if doubled)

  1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Add cereal. Stir until well coated.
  3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.
We have even made these marshmallow squares with other cereals such as Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, which, surprise surprise, we have a coupon for: $1.00 off any 3 General Mills Cereal.
