One of our favorite places to shop while Skylar is visiting in Maine is the Another Chance Thrift Store in North Berwick. They are a small shop, but because they are small and don’t have room for all the donated stock they get, they keep the prices super low so they can move it!  I am totally spoiled by this store and rarely step foot in any other thrift store because prices are just too high everywhere else when compared to Another Chance.

Why is it called Another Chance? Because all the money goes to giving homeless animals another chance! They have a foster program and volunteers care for pets until they can find a forever home. When you shop at that thrift store, you are helping those animals.

We got everything you see above for $8.70.  It includes 2 spectacular sets of blocks. One set is actually a puzzle made of wooden blocks with the alphabet on one side and numbers 1 thru 26 on the other side. When you make the puzzle it creates a giraffe!  Skylar loves saying the alphabet and counting and blocks and puzzles! This was a huge hit!  We didn’t even know we got that until we got home and sorted one of the containers of blocks. The other set of wooden blocks comes with pieces to make a fantastic castle village.  We had a blast with that one too.  I think each set was only $1.00.  They were well worth it.

We also got two board games. One was brand new and included play money, another big hit!  Those were $.50 and $.75… such a bargain!!!  Then we picked up 6 puzzles, all for $.25 each. Also picked up a Dora book, a Dora white board with the dry marker attached (and it was not dried out!) and a magnet Dora case that turns into an easel, complete with magnets!

What else.  Oh, the tap shoes!  This is the 3rd pair of taps I pick up there.  Skylar does not take dance, but she loves to walk in taps, even to the point of embarassing me. lol  One time she insisted in wearning a dance outfit and taps when we went shopping.  Of course, I let her!  I’ve got to tell you, tap shoes are very loud in a post office. lol

She also picked out another pair of shoes that she absolutely had to have. Both pairs of shoes are too big, but big shoes are more fun. And she’ll fit into them soon enough.  All their shoes are only $.50 per pair, including any boots you might find. So worth it!!!  The last thing she picked out was a bowling ball.

All that came up to just $8.70 and will provide us with hours of fun.  We are going back on Saturday to make our toy donation (we give back what she has outgrown) and to also see the cats. They have some of the pets there on Saturdays in case you are looking to adopt.
