COUPON MATH: Which size jar of Cains Relish should you buy?

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I wanted to do a bit of coupon math to show you that when you use coupons, buying small is almost always the best way to get bigger savings!

Here are examples with prices I got from the Walmart in Sanford:

Scenario for the 10 ounce jars of Cains Relish
Buy (2) jars Cains Relish 10 oz priced at $.92 each
Use (1) $1/2 any Cains product printable coupon (unlimited prints)
Final price is $.84 for 2 jars so $.42 per jar
Price per ounce is .42 / 10 = .042 so just over 4¢ per ounce

Scenario for the 16 ounce jars of Cains Relish
Buy (2) jars Cains Relish 10 oz priced at $1.68 each
Use (1) $1/2 any Cains product printable coupon (unlimited prints)
Final price is $2.36 for 2 jars so $1.18 per jar
Price per ounce is 1.18 / 16 = .073 so just over 7¢ per ounce

You can see how you are much better off buying the smaller jars! In this case, if you buy small jars of relish and use the coupons you will save 43%!
