Gumdrop Christmas Cookies Recipe
a General Mills Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

check for ingredient coupons here
cookie mix of your choice
ingredients required for your cookie mix
red, white and green gumdrops (spice or fruit flavor)
optional: course sugar or colored sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Prepare your cookie dough as directed on package.

2:  Roll cookie dough into balls  and place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and flatten (or you can drop the batter about 2 inches apart and flatten).

3:  Add cut pieces of gumdrops on top of each cookie and press down a bit. You can also sprinkle course sugar or decorative sugar on each cookie if desired.

4:  Bake according to instructions on your cookie mix.

Darlene’s Tips:  Try spraying your knife with cooking spray to make cutting the gumdrops easier. You could also try this is a roll of sugar cookie dough to make it super quick and easy! When rolling cookie dough, you can always dust your hands with powdered sugar so the dough will not stick to your hands. Then you can roll the ball of dough into powdered sugar before placing on the cookie sheet if you want a crinkled look.

Christmas Tree Vegetable Platter

INGREDIENTS:

3 cups fresh broccoli florets
14 grape tomatoes
1/2 yellow bell pepper, cut into strips
1 1/2 cups fresh cauliflower florets
about 40 thin pretzel sticks

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Rinse and thoroughly dry vegetables. Trim broccoli and cauliflower floret stems.

2:  Arrange broccoli on serving platter to form tree shape and tomatoes to form garland.

3:  Arrange bell pepper to form star and cauliflower to form snow (see photo). If desired, cover and refrigerate up to 4 hours.

4:  Just before serving, arrange pretzels at bottom of tree to form trunk. Serve with dip of your choice.

Darlene’s Tips:  If you want, you can buy less ingredients by using a mix and skipping the pumpkin pie spice. Follow the rest of the recipe as directed. Cream cheese flavored frosting would be great on this. You can thin the frosting with a tiny bit of water or milk if you want to drizzle like a glaze.
