Easy Cookie Pops Recipe – Just 2 Store Bought Ingredients

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

NOTE: Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

INGREDIENTS:
1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated sugar cookies
24 , unwrapped (see tips below)
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Heat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper.

2:  Cut cookie dough into 24 slices. Place cookie slices on cookie sheets about 2 1/2 inches apart.

3:  Press a pop in center of each cookie slice.

4:  Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 5 minutes then remove from cookie sheets.

Darlene’s Tips: You don’t have to use Dum Dums. You can try any round ball type lollipop, just not the kind with gum in the center. Flat lollipops might also work, just not sure if they’d melt too much.

2 Ingredient Banana Spice Cookies Recipe

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

NOTE: Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

INGREDIENTS:
check for ingredient coupons here
1 box Betty Crocker SuperMoist Spice Cake Mix
2 very ripe bananas
optional: glaze (see tips below)
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1: Preheat oven to 350°F. Beat together the cake mix and bananas in a large bowl.

2: Spoon batter by tablespoonfuls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-12 minutes, or just until the cookies set. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet and transferring to cooling rack. Frost or garnish as desired or just serve them plain.

Darlene’s Tips: If you want to add an egg for texture, go right ahead!  You could also add some chopped nuts or candy morsels. You can use any yellow cake mix if you don’t want the spice cake flavor. You can also add a teaspoon of banana extract for more banana flavor.  For simple glaze, just add a few drops of water to 1/2 cup of powered sugar and stir. Keep adding just a few drops at a time until you get the consistency you like.

Youtube Stats – Narrow Fabric Scraps Video – 1.5 Years of Missing Data So I’m Switching Gears

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

In this series, I show you stats for some of my videos so you can see how youtube works for content creators.  Please remember, I am a very small youtuber compared to what is out there and my growth has been very slow.  But I don’t give up! I just keep going and make changes along the way.  Hopefully sharing my stats can help other content creators by showing them what they might be able to expect over the life of their channel.  I will be sharing videos that performed well and videos that fell flat. I hope you enjoy this series!

MISSING DATA SO I’M SWITCHING GEARSYoutube has a glitch (see graph below). The stats are currently completely missing for a 1.5 year period, January, 2017 through June 2018 (that blue rectangle in the graph).  It makes no sense for me to analyze videos that were up and running during that period since I don’t know if the reporting is correct. Therefore, I’m putting a hold on the Crumb Quilt Adventure Stats until the glitch fixed. As soon as the data returns, I will finish the stats for that series.  Until then, I will stick to videos that were uploaded after June 2018.

MY RED HOT VIDEO!!!

I mentioned before that one of my new videos has performed better than any other new video I have uploaded.  That does not mean it is the highest earning video, at least not yet. But it has earned the most in the first month than any other video earned in its first month. It came out of the gate strong!

Video we are exploring in this post:
How I Turn Narrow Fabric Scraps Into New Fabric

Video was uploaded on:  December 10, 2019

Date of this blog post: 1/9/20  (at the time of this post, the video is one month old)

Watch time: 41,416 hours

Total earnings: $1495.22

Earnings for the past 90 days: It’s not 90 days old yet, but it earned an average of almost $50 per day for the first 30 days.

What does this mean?

It pretty much means youtube promoted the shit out of that video!  I see that 82% of my views came from those who watched that video because youtube put it in their suggested videos list.  That video alone was responsible for getting me a net gain of 3,787 new subscribers.

As for the earnings, the video was uploaded near the end of the month. Better than that, it was at the end of the year!  Some advertisers still had leftover budgets to spend so my video got higher paying ads that usual.

Now it is January and ad budgets have changed. Youtube even posted a note inside the analytics reminding me (and I assume all content creators) that earnings can be down for Jan due to the new advertising budgets.

Looking at the graph below, I see that the earnings peaked during the very last week of December (click image to enlarge).    That makes total sense. Advertisers were using up the very last of their budgets.

If you are a monetized youtuber but you are still fairly new to all this, don’t ever be worried or shocked by a big drop in earnings.  It happens.  It does not mean your videos suddenly suck. It can simply be a matter of what kind of ads you are currently getting. Higher paying advertisers might have depleted their budgets so google will give you lower paying ads.

With that said, it is a very good idea to check your analytics to see which of your videos are earning the highest CPM (cost per thousand, also called cost per mille).  To check your CPM in the new youtube studio, go to Revenue, then click See More under Ad Types, then use the drop down and select CPM (this is if you are on a computer, no clue how to find that info on a phone).

I see that I get higher paying ads for my quilt type tutorials than I do on fabric unboxings. Does that mean I need to stop the unboxings?  No! I still need those for variety and also just to give me some general chat time (which I usually end up regretting, like in this video).

The other interesting thing (at least to me,  you are probably snoring by now), is that my audience retention is low for my Narrow Fabric Scraps video. It’s only 32.9%.  Viewers are only watching an average of 10 minutes of that video. The good news is that once there is the initial drop off, I still have quite a few who watched the entire video.  It was a long video, about 30 minutes, so that still gave me a high watch time.  Youtube likes lots of watch time so that can also help creators get higher paying ads.

There is no one thing that determines which videos perform well. It’s a mix of content, timing and advertising dollars. Some planning is good, but it’s always a good idea to record content you enjoy and that you also feel is worth your time.

I have given up many videos that I enjoyed recording simply because my time is better spent on videos that have a better chance of earning more. I put a lot of time into recording, edting, uploading and promoting.  I’m trying to use my limited time wisely. For now. Who knows what I’ll be doing down the road.

Pecan Pie Brownies Recipe

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

NOTE: Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

INGREDIENTS:
check for ingredient coupons here
Browie Base
1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker Supreme original brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
Pecan Pie Topping
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons  all-purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup
1 egg
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Heat oven to 350°F.  Line 9-inch square pan with foil, allowing some to hang over edges of pan. Grease bottom and sides of pan with shortening or cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box. Spread in pan.  Bake 28 to 31 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean.

2:  Melt butter in small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir in flour until smooth. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and 1 egg until well blended. Increase heat to medium and cook 2 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture just begins to boil. Remove from heat and stir in pecans.

3:  Spoon pecan topping evenly over baked brownie then bake an additional 13 to 17 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling along edges. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 2 hours.

4:  Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan and peel foil away. Cut as desired.

Darlene’s Tips: You can use any nuts you want for this recipe.  You can also add up to 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (or any flavor morsels) to the brownie batter.  Serve warm with ice cream! To warm the brownies, just pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time until warm.

Chocolaty PB & J Cookie Bars Recipe – Only 4 Ingredients

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

INGREDIENTS:
check for ingredient coupons here
1 roll Pillsbury refrigerated sugar cookies
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup strawberry jam
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Heat oven to 350°F. Break up 3/4 of the cookie dough and press dough evenly in bottom of an ungreased 11 x 7-inch pan to form crust. (you can flour your hands so the dough won’t stick)

2:  Spread layer of peanut butter over crust. Spread layer of strawberry jam over peanut butter. Sprinkle chocolate chips over jam.

3:  Break remaining cookie dough into small pieces and evenly scatter over top.

4:  Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until light golden brown (cookie will be soft). Cool slightly, about 10 minutes. Carefully remove from pan and place on cooling rack. Serve warm or cool completely. Cut as desired.

Darlene’s Tips: You can refrigerate the warm cookies if you want them to cool faster. Chilled cookies will be easier to cut into even squares. You can line the pan with foil and leave some extending over the sides so you can lift the entire cookie out of the pan to cut. You can skip the chocolate morsels if you want just pb & j or you could use peanut butter morsels.

What does this mean?

It’s hard to know what this means because youtube is suddenly having a reporting issue for January, 2017 through June 2018.  Yes, a 1½ year analytics glitch (see graph below).

It says reporting can be incorrect for that period and they are working on a fix.  So those horrible views, watch time and earnings might be higher than the numbers I showed you.  I hope!  I have no clue when this will be fixed, so I’m going with what I currently see inside my analytics.

I do know that people were not watching as much this late into the series. I remember my heart was sinking because my old subscribers were leaving like crazy.  I got lots of hate for the crumb quilt adventure.  I was pumping out a crumb quilt video almost every day and I was not uploading any of the funny stuff my subscribers were used to at that time.  The pissed off subbies were very vocal about it.

Yes, I gained lots of new subbies with this crumb quilt series. I thought, oh, cool!  But then many of them hated me when I stopped sewing and went back to the funny stuff.  In other words, subscribers only love you if you grant their every wish. There is no way I can always do that.  I’m not a fucking genie.

Since analytics are down for that period, I can’t see how many subs I gained and lost. I will double check the numbers if/when that mega glitch get fixed.

With all that said, the numbers above for the current 90 day earnings are correct.  That’s very sad. lol And I see I tucked a “quick tip #1” video in that series. I guess that was part of my never ending quest to create quick videos. There was no quick tip #2.

I hope I can wrap up this series next time with actual numbers!  I want very much to do stats for the entire series at the end, but I’d really love for the numbers to be correct, you know what I mean, jelly bean? How totally unfortunate that the analytics are messed up.  A year and a half of missing data. That’s quite the mess!

See that blue rectangle? That’s the year and a half that is missing.

At least I already got paid for all that. lol
