I just got back from Shaw’s and I checked the price of the lettuce for the Hamburger Helper deal that we have coming up. The iceberg is $1.99 for a head and they do not expect that price to go up. So, we will be getting it for FREE when we buy the Hamburger Helper!
Here’s the deal at Shaw’s 2/22 – 2/28:
Buy (6) Hamburger Helper (various) on sale for $1.00 each
Buy (3) heads Iceberg Lettuce at $1.99 each
Use (2) $.75/3 Hamburger Helper printable coupons
coupons will each double to $1.50 off
You will get $6.00 off the lettuce because you bought 6 Hamburger Helpers
Final price is $3.00 for 6 Hamburger Helpers and 3 heads of lettuce!
If you don’t want that much lettuce, you can do this deal:
Buy (3) Hamburger Helper (various) on sale for $1.00 each
Buy (1) head Iceberg Lettuce at $1.99

I don’t know how I missed this deal! I’m glad I spotted it now! I’m sitting here going through the new Shaw’s flyer with a fine tooth comb and first I found this awesome Oscar Mayer Carving Board Meats deal, and now I found this awesome deal for Hamburger Helper and Lettuce!
TIP: I hear so many say they don’t like Hamburger Helper due to how salty it is. You don’t need to use that seasoning packet. Use just the pasta in your own creations. I mark and save all seasoning packets I get in boxed dinners then use just a little bit as needed to flavor soup, meatloaf, stews, whatever!

I was just going through the Shaw’s flyer for tomorrow’s sale, and I took another look at the Oscar Mayer Instant Savings sale. At first I was like… eh… but then I checked for coupons for the meat and we have a terrific deal! That is, if you can round up all the coupons. This is a good time to ask a non-couponing friend to print for you :O) Or you can order the coupons if you shop later in the week (need time to get them in the mail).
Here’s the deal at Shaw’s 2/22 – 2/28:

FREEZING TIP: When I get packages of sandwich meat, I like to freeze in smaller portions. What I do is layer the meat between coffee filters then wrap or bag the stack. Then it’s easy to take out just what you need. Sandwich meat always thaws a bit watery so I thaw between paper towels.

Here’s what I like about this deal. No, it’s not the absolute cheapest deal we’ve ever had on frozen entrees, but it’s fairly close. Looking back on my blog, I see that we paid $.50 for Mama Rosie’s, but that was way back in October.
With that said, $.79 is still a good price, and what I like about these dinners is you can s-t-r-e-t-c-h them out by adding extra veggies, extra meat, you can even toss in leftover cooked pasta! Then serve with some warm bread and a side salad and you’ve got a very cheap meal for two, or maybe even three! I have even been known to toss these dinners into soup to stretch the soup. Very yummy!
If you want to stock up, you have 2 different links you can print from. That means even if you have just one computer, you can buy up to 20 dinners if you want!
UPDATE: you may find a better price at Walmart, so check there first! We have a report of $.88 so only $.68 after the coupon. (Thanks, Helen!)

There is good news and bad news about this coupon. The good news is that we can print this coupon once a week until the end of March. The bad news is that it says “DO NOT DOUBLE” right at the top of the coupon. But, it starts with a 5 so it will double automatically at Shaw’s and your cashier might let it stand.
