INGREDIENTS:

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

See my Darlene’s Concoctions videos!

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Heat oven to 350° F. In large bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar with spoon. Stir in flour. (If dough is crumbly, mix in 1 to 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened.)

2:  Roll dough 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into small shapes by hand or use cookie cutters. Place 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

3:  Bake 14 to 16 minutes or until set and bottoms are light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

Darlene’s Tips: You can add some finely chopped nuts, maybe 1/4 cup. Pecans are a great option, especially if you love Keebler Sandies Pecan Shortbread Cookies! These cookies can be dipped in melted chocolate or any flavor of melted candy morsels. Or you can drizzle the melted morsels on the cookies. Add a drop of food coloring for pastel shortbread cookies. If you don’t want to roll the dough, make sloppy shortbread cookies by just taking a small ball of dough and pressing it flat with your fingers. Any odd shape is fine!
