In this series, I show you stats for some of my videos so you can see how youtube works for content creators.  Please remember, I am a very small youtuber compared to what is out there and my growth has been very slow.  But I don’t give up! I just keep going and make changes along the way.  Hopefully sharing my stats can help other content creators by showing them what they might be able to expect over the life of their channel.  I will be sharing videos that performed well and videos that fell flat. I hope you enjoy this series!

What does this mean?

It’s hard to know what this means because youtube is suddenly having a reporting issue for January, 2017 through June 2018.  Yes, a 1½ year analytics glitch (see graph below).

It says reporting can be incorrect for that period and they are working on a fix.  So those horrible views, watch time and earnings might be higher than the numbers I showed you.  I hope!  I have no clue when this will be fixed, so I’m going with what I currently see inside my analytics.

I do know that people were not watching as much this late into the series. I remember my heart was sinking because my old subscribers were leaving like crazy.  I got lots of hate for the crumb quilt adventure.  I was pumping out a crumb quilt video almost every day and I was not uploading any of the funny stuff my subscribers were used to at that time.  The pissed off subbies were very vocal about it.

Yes, I gained lots of new subbies with this crumb quilt series. I thought, oh, cool!  But then many of them hated me when I stopped sewing and went back to the funny stuff.  In other words, subscribers only love you if you grant their every wish. There is no way I can always do that.  I’m not a fucking genie.

Since analytics are down for that period, I can’t see how many subs I gained and lost. I will double check the numbers if/when that mega glitch get fixed.

With all that said, the numbers above for the current 90 day earnings are correct.  That’s very sad. lol And I see I tucked a “quick tip #1” video in that series. I guess that was part of my never ending quest to create quick videos. There was no quick tip #2.

I hope I can wrap up this series next time with actual numbers!  I want very much to do stats for the entire series at the end, but I’d really love for the numbers to be correct, you know what I mean, jelly bean? How totally unfortunate that the analytics are messed up.  A year and a half of missing data. That’s quite the mess!

See that blue rectangle? That’s the year and a half that is missing.

At least I already got paid for all that. lol

Copycat KFC Coleslaw Recipe

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

NOTE: Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

INGREDIENTS:
check for ingredient coupons here
Slaw
1/2 small head cabbage, cored and cut into 8 pieces (2 lb)
1 small carrot, cut into 4 pieces
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
Dressing
2/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of paprika
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Add cabbage to a 7- to 10-cup food processor. Cover and pulse in short increments until finely chopped. Transfer cabbage to a large bowl.

2:  Add carrot pieces to food processor and pulse in short increments until finely chopped. In fine mesh sieve, rinse carrots under cold water until water is clear. Drain carrots thoroughly.

3:  Add drained carrots and onion to bowl with cabbage and mix well.

4:  Mix remaining ingredients in a small bowl to make dressing. Add dressing to cabbage mixture in bowl and mix well.  Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

Darlene’s Tips: Not much to say about this recipe other than give it a try!  Please remember that I did not make this recipe.  I say so at the top of every recipe post. I am often asked why I didn’t record a video making it.  Answer: I didn’t make it!  I just share these recipes because people like recipes and it gives me content for my blog. Do you really think I have time to do all this cooking?

Cheater’s Sampler Quilt Playlist

I have a new sampler quilt series starting!  This is my Cheater’s Sampler Quilt. I’m calling it that because I will not be doing any piecing for this quilt.  Instead of featuring a variety of different quilt blocks, I will be featuring a variety of different fabric prints.

I created the design you see in the image.  I wanted some big blocks to feature some large prints.  I also wanted some small blocks to hopefully feature some motifs. Now I just have to round up my fabric!  At this point, I really don’t know what I will be using.

If you want to follow along, you can start looking for fabric to fill the spaces.  This is a very good time to make a memory quilt if you have clothing from loved ones that you want to use in a quilt. You can use cotton or poly or stretch. Anything goes!  If you have very light weight fabrics or stretch knits, to stabilize it.

Below are all the sizes of the blocks for my design.
Each square in the grid is one inch.

All measurements below are in inches and are wide x tall
The sizes below allow for 1/4 inch seam allowances on all sides
Sashing will be 2½ inch strips by width of fabric (1½ yds should be plenty)
Finished quilt will be 40 inches wide by 55 inches tall.

Start planning your quilt and be sure you subscribe to my channel so you can follow this series! You can also get a FREE GIFT by joing my patreon! See here!

Marshmallow Fluff Frosting Recipe

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

Please remember that I don’t eat this stuff so I did not test this recipe. I’m just posting so you can try it!

INGREDIENTS:
check for ingredient coupons here
1½ cups marshmallow cream or fluff (see tips below)
1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened to room temp
2¼ cups powdered sugar
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Beat marshmallow creme and softened butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until blended.  If too thick, add 1 or tablespoons of water.

2:  Beat in powdered sugar until fluffy. If necessary, add a bit more water, a few drops at a time, until thin enough to spread.

Darlene’s Tips: You can use for strawberry frosting. Don’t get too worried about the exact measurements.  If too thick, add a few drops of water.  It too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar. Keep playing with it until you get the consistency  you like.  You can also add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of any flavor extract and/or a few drops of food coloring. Use on cakes, cupcakes, brownies or cookies.
