INGREDIENTS:
1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist cake mix (any flavor)
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened (not margarine)
1 egg
optional: glaze (see tips below)
(see my tips below)
DIRECTIONS:
1: Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat cream cheese and softened butter with electric mixer on medium speed about 1 minute or until well blended. Beat in egg until smooth.
2: On low speed, beat in cake mix until blended. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3: Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool on cookie sheet 2 minutes then remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 20 minutes. Frost or glaze if desired.
Darlene’s Tips: For a super easy glaze, add a few drops of milk or water to 1 cup powdered sugar and stir. Keep adding a few drops of liquid at a time until you get the consistency you want. You can also add a few drops of extract. You could also add up to 1/2 cup of other ingredients like chopped nuts, raisins, m&m candies, whatever!

INGREDIENTS:
Filling
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons chopped , drained, patted dry
1 egg
Brownies
1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker Supreme original brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
(see my tips below)
DIRECTIONS:
1: Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom of 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
2: In small bowl, mix cream cheese and sugar with spoon until smooth. Add flour, cherries and egg. Mix until well blended. Set aside.
3: Make brownie batter as directed on box. Reserve 3/4 cup brownie batter and set aside. Spread remaining batter in pan.
4: Spoon cream cheese filling by tablespoonful dollops evenly onto batter, making 3 rows by 3 rows. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the reserved brownie batter in center of each filling dollop. Draw knife through mixture in four straight lines horizontally, then vertically for swirled design.
3: Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool 30 minutes on cooling rack. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until chilled. Cut as desired. Store covered in refrigerator.
Darlene’s Tips: You could experiment and try this recipe using some chopped pieces of fresh fruit or berries in the cream cheese filling instead of the cherries, or even canned fruit that is well drained and patted dry. You can add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts of your choice to the brownie batter too!

INGREDIENTS:
1 Pillsbury Frozen Deep Dish Pie Crust (or any brand)
2 cups whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
3 cups fresh fruit (strawberry slices, blueberries, kiwi fruit slices, peach slices or any combination)
(see my tips below)
DIRECTIONS:
1: Prepare pie crust as directed on package for one-crust baked shell using 9-inch pie pan. Cool 30 minutes or until completely cooled.
2: In large bowl, combine whipping cream and powdered sugar; beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in fruit.
3: Spoon into cooled baked shell. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Store in refrigerator.
Darlene’s Tips: Skip the whipping cream and just use your favorite whipped topping. You could totally use a ready-made graham cracker crust for this. You might have to cut the recipe in half since that’s not deep dish, or you might be able to make two not-so-deep pies. Pretty sure you could also use well-drained canned fruit. Fruit cocktail would be an excellent choice!

My old Crumb Quilt Series is still doing well, at least the first 2 episodes. I never got around to finishing the stats for that series (ebay had an earnings glitch). I will have to revisit that! It’s probably doing better now than it did way back when it was uploaded.

4: Spread half of brownie batter in greased pan. Spread chocolate mixture over batter. Drop remaining brownie mixture by teaspoonfuls over chocolate layer. (Brownie mixture will not completely cover chocolate layer.)
5: Bake at for 29 to 33 minutes or until brownie topping feels dry and edges begin to pull away from sides of pan. Do not overbake. Cool 2 hours the refrigerate 1 1/2 hours. Cut into bars. Serve cold or at room temperature. Store in refrigerator.
Darlene’s Tips: You could also add some shredded coconut to the brownie batter or even to the melted chocolate layer. Use any nuts you like. You could also try peanut butter, butterscotch or white morsels instead of chocolate.
