1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist yellow cake mix (or any brand)
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup
optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts
(see my tips below)
See my Darlene’s Concoctions videos!
DIRECTIONS:
1: Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13×9-inch pan with cooking spray.
2: In large bowl, beat cake mix, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs and milk with spoon until well blended. Stir in butterscotch morsels (and nuts, if desired). Spread in pan.
3: Bake 24 to 28 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Cut as desired.
Darlene’s Tips: You can use any flavor cake mix for this recipe. They just won’t be blonde, but they should still have a more chewy texture! Toss in any flavor morsels too. You could also add other ingredients like raisins, M&M candies, shredded coconut or whatever you like! You can frost these for extra sweetness!

INGREDIENTS:

1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist white cake mix
1/2 cup shortening
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 to 1 teaspoon vanilla, almond or lemon extract
1 egg
Sugar for sprinkling
Vanilla frosting
Food colors
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:
1: Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, beat cake mix, shortening, butter, extract and egg with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on high speed 1 minute (or just beat the hell out of it by hand, my words, not theirs, lol).
2: Divide dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered surface with rolling pin.
3: Cut with cookie cutters into desired shapes then sprinkle with sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
4: Bake 5 to 7 minutes or until light brown. Cool 1 minute then remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.
5: In microwavable bowl, microwave frosting uncovered on High 20 to 30 seconds or until melted. Stir until smooth and frost cookies.
6: In small bowls or cups, stir together small amounts of water and food color. Paint colors on freshly frosted cookies, using fine-tip brush, then swirl colors with brush or toothpick to create marbled designs. Dry completely before storing.
Darlene’s Tips: Want to whip up galaxy cookies quickly? Use store-bought cookies! You can also use the food coloring swirl method on top of cakes. Just heat your frosting as mentioned in the descriptions and frost your cake. Then paint with the food color and water mixture and swirl. You could also add colorful sugar sprinkles for twinkling stars.

DIRECTIONS:
1: Melt candy coating over low heat in a small saucepan, stirring constantly, until smooth.
2: Line cookie sheets with waxed paper. Holding cookie with tongs, dip entire top and side of each cookie into melted coating, letting excess drip off.
3: Lay flat, coated side up, on waxed paper-lined cookie sheets.
4: Place 2 chocolate chips in coating to form eyes. Let stand about 10 minutes until set.
Darlene’s Tips: You can give your ghosts a mouth by piping on black or red frosting or you can cut pieces of red or black shoestring licorice.

INGREDIENTS:

Round chocolate cookies (store bought or bake your own)
Hershey’s Kisses unwrapped
1 cup white frosting
Food coloring (colors of your choice)
optional: candy sprinkles
See my Darlene’s Concoctions videos!
DIRECTIONS:
1: Divide frosting into small bowls. Tint frosting as desired with food colors.
2: Pipe 1-inch circle of frosting on top center of each cookie. Sprinkle frosting with candy sprinkles if desired.
3: Press 1 milk chocolate candy into frosting on each cookie. Store cookies tightly covered.
Darlene’s Tips: This is a fun food craft for the kiddos and they can be whipped up at the last minute. If you don’t want to bother with the tinted frosting, just buy chocolate frosting and pipe that on to “glue” the hat down. Or just spread frosting on the entire cookie then add the hat. Not much else to say other than have fun making these cookies!

INGREDIENTS:
check for ingredient coupons here
1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated chocolate chip cookies
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 bag (11 to 13 oz) caramels, unwrapped ()
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup broken pretzel pieces (twists or sticks)
See my Darlene’s Concoctions videos!
DIRECTIONS:
1: Heat oven to 350°F. Crumble cookie dough in medium bowl. Stir in 1/2 cup of the pecans until well mixed. Press evenly in ungreased 9-inch square pan. Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until deep golden brown. Cool 30 minutes.
2: Microwave caramels and milk in medium microwavable bowl, uncovered, on High 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 60 seconds, until melted and smooth.
3: Pour melted caramel evenly over cookie base. Sprinkle with pretzels and remaining 1/4 cup pecans, pressing slightly into caramel. Cool about 1 hour 30 minutes or until caramel is set. Store covered in refrigerator.
Darlene’s Tips: You can use any chopped nuts that you like, even mixed nuts. You could sprinkle candy morsels on the top of the caramel along with the pretzel pieces or you can skip the pretzels if they are not your thing. You can line your pan with foil with edges over the sides for easy removal and cleanup.
