Halloween Snack Mix Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

8 oz , coarsely chopped
4 cups Corn Chex or Rice Chex cereal (or mix them)
2 cups bite-size pretzel twists
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup candy corn
1/4 cup Betty Crocker orange and black candy decors
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:
1: In large microwavable bowl, microwave chopped baking bars uncovered on High 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth.
2: Gently stir in cereal, pretzels and raisins until evenly coated. Stir in candy corn and decors.
3: Spread on waxed paper or foil until cool and chocolate is set, about 30 minutes. Break into chunks. Store loosely covered.

Darlene’s Tips: You can use white morsels instead of the white chocolate. And if you can’t find the orange and black candy decors, just use whatever you want. Experiment with different cereals too. Any cereal will work. You can put this snack mix in sandwich bags and tie with orange and black ribbon to hand out as party favors or special treats!

When shopping on ebay, always read the descriptions. Some items ship from overseas and can take a few weeks to arrive. Usually the description will state how long shipping might take. Also, for clothing, overseas sizes usually run on the small size so it’s good to order larger by a size or two. Always check the shipping charges. I’m not familiar with these sellers so please do your homework and shop accordingly. Some offer special deals like getting a free item or a percentage off if you buy a certain quantity so be sure you pay attention to that too!

Batty Cupcakes – Halloween Food Craft

INGREDIENTS:

Chocolate cupcakes (store-bought or bake your own)
1 container Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting
Thin chocolate wafer cookies, broken in half
chocolate creme sandwich cookies
Betty Crocker Decorating Cookie Icing white icing (from 7-oz pouch)
Candy eyes
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:
1: Frost cupcakes.
2: Insert one half of a chocolate wafer cookie on each side of cupcake to look like bat wings.
3: Place 1 miniature sandwich cookie between cookie pieces for bat body.
4: Squeeze 2 small dots white icing onto each cookie and attach candy eyes.

Darlene’s Tips: You could use peppermint patties for the wings. And you could pipe some orange frosting around the edge of the cupcakes for extra halloween colors. As for the white icing to glue the eyes on, save your money and use the chocolate frosting as the glue!

Frankencat Cookies Recipe – Halloween Food Craft

INGREDIENTS:

1 pouch (17.5 oz.) package of Betty Crocker Cookie Mix Sugar
plus ingredients required on cookie mix package
Green food coloring
1 can (16 oz.) of Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting
(optional)
Chocolate candy morsels
(see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:
1: Preheat oven to 375º F. Prepare cookie dough according to package instructions and also add a few drops of green food coloring to the mix.
2: Roll out dough and cut out square shapes using a square cookie cutter or a knife. Bake for 7-9 minutes. Let cool completely.
3: Spread a thin line of chocolate frosting on top of the cookie for the hair. Sprinkle black sugar on top of the chocolate frosting if desired.
4: Attach 2 chocolate chips with the frosting to the top of cookie for the ears.
5: Attach 2 candy eyes with frosting.
6: Draw in the face and stitches with the black edible marker. Use image as a guide.

Darlene’s Tips: You could use the back side of any or for the cookies and just decorate using the image as a guide. They won’t be green (you might try brushing them with green food coloring) and they won’t be rectangular (unless you find rectangle shaped cookies in your store) but they will still be super cute!
