Happy Monday everyone! For those of you who started back up with their work week today, I hope you woke up thrilled about getting back to work. I think one of the saddest things ever is not loving your job. We spend most of our lives working. It really helps to love what we do. Don’t love it? You can change it! Or you can just not love it and do it anyway. No law against that. lol I had a very busy weekend because I’m the type who would rather work every day than ever take a day off. I feel like i got a lot accomplished, dealt with lots of fabric, uploaded enough videos. I’m working hard on my channel to try to bounce back from a dip in earnings at the beginning of July. I think I might end up okay! Yesterday, I got 18 packages ready for my carrier for today’s pickup. I think the packaging is the most time-consuming part of selling the fabric. Yes, cutting it is time-consuming too, but it’s more pleasant because I get to be looking at all the fabric. Packaging is not exciting and it’s also easy to mess up, so I have to constantly be paying attention. Which I’m good at because it’s my job, and as time-consuming and tedious as it is, I love my job. Seriously, there is not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful that I love my work. Many times it’s the only thing that gets me through the day. Yesterday, I finally got back to my Upcycled Fashions series! It felt so good to be doing that! I took two skirts and turned them into one skirt. I love the outcome! You can see the skirt here. Today I must finish listing my very few paper bead auctions that will go live tomorrow, Aug 1st, at 4:00pm. I wish I had more to offer, but I did not have a full month to work on them. I’m hoping to make lots of them for Sep 1st. And I might list a few more Penny Auctions with Free Shipping today! I thought that might be a nice way to start the week. And I think I’ll try a 5 day listing instead of 7 days. This way, the auctions will end on Saturday and if anyone orders fabric and also wins one of the auctions, I can send everything together. My other plans for today might include a load of laundry and picking up around the house. I also have another review I need to do for a vacuum that I bought. Putting that on my list and will try to get that done this week sometime. I also have 21 new dating messages that I have not even looked at. I might read some of those on camera tonight. I’m sure it’s much of the same as the first batch of dating comments that I read, but hey, if I am on this boring journey, you need to be there with me! lol Have a great Monday! I got much of the stuff done yesterday that I wanted to do. I didn’t finish it all, so I was not able to reward myself with a new quilt block. lol I hope to get my urgent tasks completed today so I can maybe work on a quilt block at some point. Do love making the quilt blocks! As for fabric, I still ONE LOT left of the Christmas prints and I have quite a few of the Fat Eighths. As for those Fat Eighths, many of them would look nice in a Christmas quilt too and might work well as sashing or a scrappy border with the Christmas fabrics! Last night I was going to jump in via video with a nightcap, but at the last minute I decided to read some of my Youtube Comments. As usual, that good laugh helped me greatly! I needed that! Today I must get the fabric orders ready for tomorrow’s pickup then I have some sewing to do. Not sure what I’ll have for a video tonight, but I’m quite sure there will be something! Stay tuned! Have a great Sunday! Darlene xoxo BE COOL -> Subscribe to my Youtube channel I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.
Happy Saturday! I woke up not happy about many things today. One thing I’m very happy about it no sunshine and not hot. I hope so much this day can stay this way. Yesterday, I finally gave in and tried Etsy. That was 3 days of prep by opening a shop and learning some of the ropes. Then I listed. I was not in love but I was willing to give it a good shot. Then I sold 4 items and quickly discovered that I hated that whole process. Etsy puts a hold on money and requests that sellers don’t ship until those payments clear. Not a happy camper about that! I don’t want to make my buyers wait. I also don’t like other features about Etsy including the general look of the site. And I got no traffic. Granted, I have a following on eBay, so why on earth move from a place where I built traffic to a static platform? I was hopeful and curious. Now that I got the curiosity solved, I closed up shop and moved my fabric over to eBay where it belongs. What a timely and costly learning experience that was. Glad it’s over! lol You can see my Fabrics and Penny Auction here! And you can expect more penny auctions soon! I hope to be listing several per week! You can get a feel of how this whole ordeal affected me here. I was exhausted and frustrated but still happy I gave it a shot. Now when people tell me I need to sell on etsy, I can give then an educated NO instead of just assuming I won’t like it there. Yesterday, I opened some peanut gallery mail. The very best part about that is I got a thank you note via snail mail from a boy named Scott Sheldon. He was Skylar’s giveaway winner. We picked the winner while Skylar was still here. When a male name came up, at first I was like… oh, shoot! The prizes were mostly girlie. Then when I checked to be sure the winner was subscribed to Skylar’s channel, I discovered it was a boy and he had a channel. I emailed him about being the winner and explained that it was mostly girlie stuff but that maybe he could give the items to his mom or sister or aunt or whatever. I could tell by his reply that he was a very nice young man. Let’s fast forward to yesterday. After reading his thank you note that I just opened, I knew I wanted to give him a special shout out. I went to his channel to get the link and I discovered that he had uploaded a video showing the prizes he won from Skylar’s giveaway. What a fantastic kid he is! Not only did I fall in love with him, but much of the peanut gallery did too. He got well over 100 new subscribers (wow! I just checked and he had only 13 subbies and now he’s up to 190!!! so happy for him!!!), lots of views and a ton of the most awesome comments giving him such praise for being an awesome kid. And awesome kid he is! I’m so happy for him and so grateful for how you all showed him so much support! The peanut gallery rocks! You helped to make Scott feel very special. He is the appreciative type and I know he must be extraordinarily excited about his newly found fame. You can see me talk about Scott in my Fan Mail Friday video. And you can watch his Giveaway Winner video here. You will see the prizes Skylar had picked out! And he was quite happy with what he got. If you want to really get caught up, you can also watch the giveaway video on Skylar’s channel. It was a different kind of giveaway because she did not want to show the prizes. lol Today I must finish cutting fabric. I must! I must also get my bead auctions scheduled. I must! And there’s that upcycled fashions that I need to at least start. I must! If I can get all that done, I will treat myself to a new quilt block. That’s my incentive. Have an awesome Saturday!
