How I rolled over my CVS ExtraBucks

I have been looking for a good way to roll over my $4 and $1 ExtraBucks that I’ve been hanging on to for my $12 Challenge. I thought I’d have to just cave in and buy candy or something that would not give me any EBs in return. But then, things all fell into place!

First, back on March 7th, I used my $1 EB to buy jelly beans for $.99. I got $.99 EB in return and I found a penny on the ground, so I really got my entire $1 back… tee hee!

Today I had to use my $4 EB because it was expiring. So, I had the $4 and the $.99 to use and this is what I did…

Bought (1) PediaCare, reg $7.49, on sale for $5.99
Used (1) $1/1 PediaCare coupon from 10/9 SS Insert
Used $4 EB
Used $.99 EB
Total was ZERO
I paid $.30 tax
I got back $5 ExtraBucks!
I also got back $1 EB for scanning my Green Bag Tag

Then I turned around and did this…

Do you know about the $1 OFF Hannaford Angus Coupon?

I want to make sure everyone knows about the $1 off Taste of Inspirations Angus beef coupon that you can pick up at Hannaford. You can find the coupon on the back of the pamphlet that they keep on the butcher bar.

Hannaford has offered this coupon ever since I started couponing nearly 11 months ago. The expiration date is usually goes out 6 months. When one expires, they usually offer another! The current coupon is good until May 31, 2012.

I know what you are probably thinking… a dollar off Angus is not much of a deal because that meat is expensive. Well, here are some tips to make the coupon work in your favor.

Look for Angus beef with reduced peelies on them. You can often find small packages of Angus with peelies… and yes, you can use the peelie and the coupon! The smaller the package, the bigger the savings!

Ask for $1.00 worth of Angus beef each time you shop. Ground beef is usually around $4.29 per pound at my Sanford Hannaford, so $1.00 worth is usually about 1/4 pound of ground beef. I know that is not much meat, but if you ask for it every time you shop, it adds up! As soon as you get home, make a hamburger patty and freeze it. Soon you will have enough patties to make burgers for your family! Even if you only shop once a week, that gives you 4 free hamburger patties each month. Shaved steak is usually priced less, so $1 worth is just over 1/4 pound. Makes awesome steak sandwiches or serve with eggs for breakfast. Do not be shy about asking for $1.00 worth of meat… just do it :O)
