Possible FREE Carmex at CVS with coupon from the machine – Scan your card!

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

If you go by CVS this week, run in and scan your card at the coupon machine to see if you get the Carmex coupon.  I got a coupon for $2 off any Carmex skincare product.  I used it on Carmex Lip Balm like you see in the photo… ’cause lips are made of skin, right?

The lip balm was only $1.67 so I had to spend an extra 33¢ to reach $2.00. They had individual caramels by the register priced at 3 for $1 so I picked one of those up.  I got the lip balm and the candy for free! And boy, that caramel was good :O)

My tricky transaction at CVS – wicked cheap toilet paper and candy

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I don’t often do gift card deals at CVS because the items that qualify are not usually things I need in my stockpile. However, this week Scott toilet paper was part of the Spend $30 Get $10 Gift Card deal, so I wanted to take advantage of it.

I knew my Sanford CVS did not have the 4-packs of toilet paper in stock, but I went on over anyway to see if they might have found some.  They had four 4-packs. That was not enough to get me to my $30 minimum purchase, but I had good coupons for cheap candy and that candy was also part of the deal (with CVS the min purchase is before coupons, not after :O), so this is what I did:

I bought these items:
(4) 4-packs Scott toilet paper, sale price $3.49 each
(2) boxes Pot of Gold chocolates, sale price $3.99 each
(2) bags M&M’s, sale price $2.50 each
Total Purchase: $26.94 (not quite $30, but I hoped it would trigger the gift card and planned on buying another box of chocolates if it didn’t)

I used these coupons:
(4) $1/1 Scott toilet paper (don’t remember where I got these)
(2) $1/1 Pot of Gold chocolates (from 12/11 SS insert)
(1) $3/2 Pot of Gold chocolates (from CVS coupon machine)
(1) $1/2 Mars candy (printable, I doubt it’s still available)
(1) $1/2 M&M’s (from the CVS coupon machine)
Total coupons: $11.00

My total after coupons was $15.94 plus tax.

I paid it down by using $11.86 Extra Bucks.

My out of pocket was $4.08 plus tax.

Here’s the tricky part.  My transaction did NOT trigger the $30 gift card (tax does not count on the minimum purchase).  So, I was going to buy another box of chocolates.  However, while I was checking out, they brought out a box of plain M&Ms (I picked up mint M&Ms because they didn’t have any plain stocked). I thought I could just swap the bags, but they had to do a return. They refunded my $5 then I bought the plain M&Ms using that same $5.  That transaction triggered the gift card! I didn’t have to spend any additional money!

I paid $4.08 just plus tax for everything and got a $10 CVS gift card in return!

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I ran over to CVS last night and noticed the boxes of Hershey’s Pot of Gold chocolates were on sale for $3.99 each. I knew I had some $1/1 Pot of Gold coupons on me, and the coupon machine spit out a coupon for $3/2 boxes of Pot of Gold chocolates.  Here’s how I got 2 boxes for just $2.98 total, or $1.49 each!

Buy (2) boxes Pot of Gold chocolates, $3.99 each, $7.98 total
Use (2) $1/1 Pot of Gold coupons from the 12/11 SS insert
Stack with (1) $3/2 Pot of Gold coupon from the coupon machine
Pay just $2.98 for two boxes of chocolates – and use Extra Bucks to pay it down if you have some!

My CVS Trip – Only paid $3.15 OOP – You can copy part or all of it on Saturday

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I managed to get out of the house for a bit to take advantage of all the even money deals CVS had to offer this week! All the items I bought gave me equal value of Extra Bucks in return.  I had some Extra Bucks to start out with so I did batches of about $8 each so I could continue to roll the new Extra Bucks over and over.

You can do this same transaction too! But this sale ends on Saturday the 26th, so hurry! If you don’t have any Extra Bucks to start with, you might want to do the optional transaction that I came up with below.

Here’s the scenario I did:

Transaction #1
Breath Right Strips, sale price $5.99 (got $5.99 EB)
2 York Peppermint Patties, sale price 99¢ each, so $1.98 (got $1.98 EB)
Total: $7.97 plus 40¢ tax
I used $7 EB earned last week, paid $1.37

Transaction #2
Pepto Bismol, sale price $2.99 (got $2.99 EB)
Cepacol, sale price $4.99 (got $4.99 EB)
Total $7.98 plus 40¢ tax
I used $7.97 EB earned in Transaction #1, paid 41¢

Transaction #3
Advil PM, sale price 99¢ (got 99¢ EB)
Advil, sale price $2.99 (got $2.99 EB)
Carmex, sale price $1 (got $1 EB)
4 Mars brand candy bars, sale price 75¢ each, so $3 (got $3 EB)
Total $7.98 plus 40¢ tax
I used $7.98 EB earned in Transaction #2, paid 40¢

Transaction #4
CVS AA batteries, sale price $3.65 (got $3.65 EB)
Colgate toothpaste, sale price $2.87 (got $2.87 EB)
Softlips lip balm, sale price $2 (got $2 EB)
Total $8.52 plus 43¢ tax
I used $7.98 EB earned in Transaction #3, paid 97¢

The pre sale price for all this stuff was $41.69. The sale price was $32.45.  Thanks to smart EB rollovers, I paid just $3.15 including tax!!!

And I have $8.52 EB left for next time!  Woo hoo!

If you want to give it a shot, but don’t want to spend $8 out of pocket for Transaction #1 (assuming you don’t have EBs to pay it down), you could try this cheaper scenario I came up with that only takes $4 out of pocket (still use previous EBs if you have them!).

Transaction #1
Colgate toothpaste, sale price $2.87 (get $2.87 EB)
Total $2.87 plus 14¢ tax
Pay $3.01

Transaction #2
2 York Peppermint Patties (there are also two other choices), sale price 99¢ each, so $1.98 (get $1.98 EB)
Carmex, sale price $1 (get $1 EB)
Total $2.98 plus 15¢ tax
Use $2.87 EB earned in Transaction #1, pay 26¢

Transaction #3
Advil, sale price $2.99 (get $2.99 EB)
Total $2.99 plus 15¢ tax
Use $2.98 EB earned in Transaction #2, pay 27¢

Transaction #4
Pepto Bismol, sale price $2.99 (get $2.99 EB)
Total $2.99 plus 15¢ tax
Use $2.99 EB earned in Transaction #3, pay 15¢

Transaction #5
Softlips lip balm, sale price $2 (get $2 EB)
Advil PM, sale price 99¢ (get 99¢ EB)
Total $2.99 plus 15¢ tax
Use $2.99 EB earned in Transaction #4, pay 15¢

Transaction #6
4 Mars brand candy bars, sale price 75¢ each, so $3 (get $3 EB)
Total $3 plus 15¢ tax
Use $2.99 EB earned in Transaction #5, pay 16¢

Your total OOP is only $4 including tax! And you will still have $3 left over for next time!  If you want batteries, you could go ahead and use this $3 toward that. Or save it for another day!

Just be sure you buy the correct products or you won’t get your Extra Bucks! Grab the flyer in the store and look at the store tags. You don’t have to get the exact items I got. Shop smart! You can do it!
