My $12 Challenge for the past few days

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

These shopping trips are part of my $12 Challenge (see here).

I have not been going out shopping much lately.  I even went two entire days without stepping foot in Shaw’s.  I have enough of everything and really need to eat what’s in the freezer because there is no more room for anything new. But, I still managed to pick up a few things… ’cause that’s how I feed this addiction!

I ended up with an overage over these transactions, so I have more money in the pot than I did a few days ago. I think if I make it to $1,000 I’ll call it quits, because I honestly think I could make this go on for a very long time, mainly due to Walmart’s cash back for overages :O)

at OfficeMax.com on 1/31
1 ream of paper priced at $6.99
price after tax was $7.34
I had $7.29 in MaxPerks
I paid only $.05
I also got $6.99 back in new MaxPerks to spend on something else!

tape coupon expired that day and they let me use them up
Value before tax was $33.91
I paid ZERO plus got $5.39 overage

at Hannaford on 1/31, 2/1, 2/3 & 2/4, multiple separate transactions
7 packages sliced green peppers in deli dept, $.99 each
5 packages sliced onions in deli dept, $.99 each

Used (1) $1 off any My Essential from coupon book (NLA)
Used (6) $1 off any Hannaford from coupon book (NLA)

Here’s where I stand with my $12 Challenge after these transactions:

Total value of purchases so far before tax is $504.78
Total OOP so far including tax is $3.63
I started with $12.00
I still have $8.37 cash plus $3.00 ExtraBucks for CVS, so I have $11.37 total left to spend!  That’s more than I had a few days ago!!!

Hannaford has nothing new for us this week… which is typical for Hannaford

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

If you are signed up for Hannaford’s weekly email, you already know that they are not offering us any new store coupons this week, at least none that I can find.

No catalina coupon for scanning your Hannaford sticker (none last week either so poo poo to that)

No extended date on the meat and deli coupons (I expected these would not be extended since football is over tomorrow)

However, you can still print and use the previous $1 off meat and $2 off deli coupons through 2/11.

Also, if you are signed up with SavingStar, you always have to scan your Hannaford sticker to get your credit. And they don’t ask if you have a sticker. You are forced to remember to give it to the cashier… ho hum.

And one last thing… seems like Hannaford has two coupon policies on their site. This Hannaford coupon policy gives very little information and does not cover the topic of coupon stacking. This Hannaford coupon policy states no coupon stacking. Go figure.

** HURRY ** $2 OFF Sara Lee meat by the pound or package

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

One of my facebook fans told me about this $2 off Sara Lee coupon (so sorry, I can’t remember who!) and I finally got around to printing it.  And now I want you to print it too!

There are two reasons to be excited about this coupon…

1. Shaw’s often has pre-sliced packages of Sara Lee in reduced deli with a $2 off peelie slapped on it. You can stack this coupon with the peelie to get a total of $4.00 off!

2. You should be able to stack this coupon with the $2 off Deli Hannaford coupon to get $4.00 off either a pound of sliced meat any pre-sliced meat. But some people are telling me Hannaford will not let them stack. Others are saying they are allowed to stack. Hannaford does not mention coupon stacking in their policy, so you’ll have to ask your store.

Facebook coupons don’t hang around for long… so hurry!

$2 OFF Sara Lee meat, 1 lb at the service deli OR 1 package of any pre-sliced meat in the deli section –  “Like” them then print 2 prints per computer

My $12 Challenge: I found Wholly in Reduced Produce

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

These shopping trips are part of my $12 Challenge (see here).

I didn’t buy much tonight (I usually always shop small) but I feel like I scored BIG TIME because I found Wholly in reduced produce at Shaw’s!  I had coupons for $1.50 off and was so hoping to get to use them before they expired… and I got to!  It wasn’t Wholly Guacamole, but Wholly Salsa.  I would have preferred guacamole, but guess what? There was a huge Florida avocado in reduced produce too!  So I can make my own guac!  Woohoo!

As for Hannaford, I have been using the deli coupon to pick up sliced green peppers in with the pizza toppings (they are in deli and ring up as deli). I boil them for just one minute the freeze. It gives me awesome green peppers for stir fry, pizza, spaghetti sauce (gotta feed my mother her spaghetti!), pepper steak… anything!

at Shaw’s on 1/30
2 bags Fresh Express salad, reg $2.79, reduced to $1.00 each
2 tubs Wholly Salsa, reg $3.49, reduced to $1.50 each
1 big fresh Florida avocado, reg $2.29, reduced to just $.28!
Used (2) $.55/1 Fresh Express (email me for Q, exp 1/31)
Used (2) $1.50/1 Wholly product (not sure if you can still get it)
Value before discounts and coupons was $14.85
for some reason it deducted $.06 tax
After discounts and doubled coupons I paid only $.02

At Hannaford on 1/30, separate transactions
4 packages sliced green peppers in deli, $.99 each
2 packages sandwich meat from Meat dept, $.99 each
2 My Essential mustards, $.79 each
4 cans Hannaford dog food, $.65 each
Used (2) $2 OFF Deli coupons
Used (2) $1 OFF Meat coupons
Used (2) $1 off Hannaford coupon from coupon book (NLA)
Used (2) $1 off My Essential coupon from coupon book (NLA)
Value before sales discounts and coupons was $10.12
After coupons I paid $.25 including tax

Here’s where I stand with my $12 Challenge after these transactions:

Total value of purchases so far before tax is $434.32
Total OOP so far including tax is $7.56
I started with $12.00
I still have $4.44 cash plus $3.00 ExtraBucks for CVS, so I have $7.44 total left to spend!

Unilever Catalina Deal at Hannaford – Spend $15 and Get $5 Back!

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

There is a new Unilever catalina deal starting Sunday, January 29, at Hannaford (runs through Feb 4). Each time you buy $15 worth of participating items in one transaction, you will get a catalina coupon for $5 off your next purchase!

There are lots of coupons you can match to these items! Search for coupons in my new coupon database. The database will give you links to printable coupons and will also tell you which inserts you can look in.

Go to my coupon database!

The terms do not mention anything about if the $15 minimum purchase needs to be met after coupons, so you should be able to pick up $15 at sale price, then use the coupons to bring the price down as low as possible. You can read the terms here.

List of items participating in the Unilever catalina deal:

Tip: when searching in the database, do not use symbols (use q tip, not q-tip). Also, you can use general terms (use ice cream to see coupons for all brands of ice cream at once).

The $1 OFF Bakery catalina coupon is still active through today, Friday the 27th. As soon as I find out if they are doing another catalina on Saturday, I will post to let you know.

Want to know how to get some freebies with these coupons?

For the meat coupon, ask for $1 worth of ground beef or shaved steak… FREE!

For the deli coupon, ask for $2 worth of anything from the deli… FREE!

For the bakery coupon, you should be able to get 5 donut holes for FREE or put toward anything else in bakery!

COUPONER TIP: Try to find meat and deli with reduced peelie coupons on the packages and stack with these printable coupons for extra savings!

EXTREME COUPONER TIP: If you live near a Hannaford, go in every day and pick up a freebie or cheapie from meat and deli that you can toss in the freezer (you can get egg rolls in deli!). Little by little, it adds up to lots of goodies in your freezer for very little money… pennies, even!

NOTE: The pdf coupons state one per household but they have always allowed customers to use one each time they shop. You can only use one meat and one deli coupon at a time, but you can use both in the same transaction.

More ways to use your Hannaford $1 off Meat and $2 off Deli coupons

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

There has been lots of chatter on my facebook page about the Hannaford $1 off meat and $2 off deli coupons. I am beyond excited that so many of you are using these coupons!

I just want to make sure everyone realizes the full potential of these coupons. The key word on these coupons is department. For the deli department coupon, you are not committed to buying just deli items that need to be sliced. The coupon is for anything in that department. And for the meat department coupon, you do not need to buy meat! There are lots of non-meat items in the meat department, including side dishes like ready to serve lo mein noodles or rice, Bob Evans, and more… even pickles!

I posted a short list here for items that are FREE or close to free after using the coupons (most are under $.50 OOP).

Look here to see what items you can pick up in the Deli dept and Meat dept (you can sort by price to find the cheapest stuff). And if you are still holding Produce coupons from the previous catalina promo, check produce! And don’t forget about the Bakery coupon that is still going on this week!

One thing you need to remember is that if you buy sliced items from the deli, you can ask for $2 worth and watch the scale to make sure it reaches $2 or a few pennies over. You do not have to order 1/2 pound.

Another thing you may not know is that you can ask the butcher to cut and repackage any regular priced meat as two separate packages so that each package is cheaper! Then do two separate transactions and use a coupon on each pack! That way you can save $2 total instead of just $1 on the same amount of meat.  This is a good way to save if you can’t find anything with a peelie coupon. They will not separate meat that has a peelie coupon on it.

And last but not least, if you grab something that is close to $1 but not quite, like a $.99 package of sandwich meat from the meat department, as long as you have a tiny bit of overage somewhere else, the coupon will work.  Example: if you buy $2.01 from the deli dept and $.99 from the meat dept, the total is $3. Both $1 off meat and $2 off deli coupons will scan and you will get your items for free!
