Shaw’s is having a $5 Instant Savings General Mills sale this week (through 1/5). If you buy 10 participating items, you will get $5 deducted from your total immediately! You can also use coupons on the items you buy to get even better savings! See my shopping scenarios below.

Normally during these GM sales, if you buy 20 items you will get $5 off twice, 30 items you will get $5 off three times, etc.  If you are new to couponing, I suggest you try just 10 items at a time so you can be sure you get your $5 off. If you don’t, it will be easy to see where the deal went wrong. Small transactions = fewer headaches!

Please realize that the coupons below may no longer be available. I include them in case you have them in your stash. Newbies, if you can’t print, this is a good lesson in printing when bloggers post the coupons because they don’t stick around for long. You’ll also see it’s a good idea to buy several copies of the Sunday paper so you can get the inserts (and remember, values are not the same in all regions, which stinks). It’s all a learning process. You’ll be better prepared for the next sale! :O)

My scenarios assume you can only print on ONE COMPUTER and that you have 2 COPIES of inserts. If you have more (or less) coupons, adjust accordingly!

Shopping Scenario 1 –  All Old El Passo

Buy a total of 10 Taco Shells and/or Refried Beans, mix and match, $1.25 each
Use (2) $0.50/1 Old El Paso or here or here
Use (2) $.60/3 Old El Paso
After coupons double, you pay: $12.50 – $2 – $2.40 – $5 Instant Savings wyb 10 = $3.10

Shopping Scenario 2 –  All Grands!

Buy 10 Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits, $2 each
Use (2) $.50/2 Pillsbury Grands

Shopping Scenario 3 –  Stock Up on Cake Mix

NOTE: To use the coupons mentioned, you also have to buy frosting. The frosting is not part of the GM deal this time. It might be better to just buy the cake mix and not use coupons.

Buy 10 Betty Crocker cake mixes, $1.50 each (plus buy 6 frostings if you use 6 coupons)
Use (2) $.60/2 Betty Crocker cake mix and frosting
Use (2) $.75/2 BC cake mix and frosting from SS 12/11 (may vary)
Use (2) $.75/2 BC cake mix and frosting from GM 11/13 (may vary)
After coupons double, you pay: $15.00 for cake – $2.40 – $3.00 – $3.00 – $5 Instant Savings wyb 10 = $1.60 plus the cost of 6 frostings
If you buy just 10 boxes cake mix and no frosting and do NOT use the coupons, you will pay $10 for just the cake.
