Shaw’s is having a $5 Instant Savings General Mills sale starting Friday, 2/17 running through Thursday, 2/23. If you buy 10 participating items, mix and match, you will get $5 deducted from your total immediately! You can also use coupons on the items you buy to get even better savings!
There is no limit for this GM sale. If you buy 20 items you will get $10 off, 30 items you will get $15 off, etc. If you are new to couponing, I suggest you buy just 10 items at a time so you can be sure you get your $5 off. If you don’t get the savings, it will be easy to see where the deal went wrong. Small transactions = fewer headaches!
Below is a scan of the flyer (provided by We Use Coupons) showing the items that are participating in the GM sale. Please be aware that not all flavors, size, etc., are participating. If you buy one wrong item, you will not get your $5 off. Ask your manager if they have a GM sale handout. It lists all participating items by UPC.
HELPFUL TIP: I will be posting coupon matchups throughout this sale. Sign up for my daily email so you don’t miss a deal! Look for the subscribe box under my face on this page. Make sure you check your email to verify!
The prices in yellow show you what you pay after you get the $5 instant savings wyb 10 items. If you want to start looking for coupons before I post the matchups, you can search in my COUPON DATABASE!

When there is a deal like this, will Saving Star still work? I did a deal like this a while back when SS had a “one trip or many” deal on General Mills, and did not get my money. I wrote and asked about it, and because I was a first time user, they credited my account anyway. That will not work again, I’m sure.
I would like to be able to qualify for the Yoplait and Honey Nut Cheerios deals through this sale and Saving Star. What do you think?
If you mean can we use coupons and have SavingStar still work, I have always been able to do that. However, I don’t think I have yet done a “one trip or many” deal, so I’m not positive.
Heading out to Shaw’s today for the cereal deal. Took a lot of hunting, but I finally got all of the coupons. Have to do the Totino’s instead of the potatoes; all the potato coupons were gone. I am also heading over to Target to get free Welch’s grape jelly, Welch’s fruit fizz, Activia yogurt, and Bird’s Eye Steam Fresh Veggies for 50 cents. Total should cost me about 78 cents.
Is the Hannaford booklet something new or regional? My husband goes in there all the time and says that he has never seen it.
Sounds like you have a great plan! The Hannaford booklet was out last fall and is no longer available (NLA). I hope they come out with another one for spring :O)
I love your web site. These are great tips. Thanks a lot Darlene. Tami
