The last time I purchased carrots using our favorite Earthbound Farm coupon, the register at Shaw’s in Sanford alerted the cashier that the coupon might be fraudulent. I knew the coupon was good, and the cashier totally knows me, so she put it through manually. That was back on March 22 when I bought a bunch of carrots to donate to the food pantry. Some of the coupons went through just fine, some got that fraud alert.
Since then, I’ve been getting reports that others are also getting the same fraud alert. I contacted Earthbound Farm to see if they had any idea what is going on. They said they have gotten some reports but that I’m the first blogger to contact them. They would like to know if I can gather up more details from my readers so they can try to find out what is going on.
If you used any Earthbound Farm coupons lately that came up as fraudulent, please leave a comment below, and tell us which store, which town, and an approximate date, and whatever other details you can remember. Did the cashier actually tell you there was a fraud alert? Or did it just not scan? How did your cashier handled it? Did they enter it? Refuse it?
Thanks so much! I hope we can find a fix for this! I love that Earthbound Farm cares!

Used 2 for carrots on Monday and they went thru just fine.
It happened to me about a week and a half ago at Shaw’s in Auburn, ME. Luckily, the supervisor on at the time was helping bag my order and she informed the cashier that she knew me and they had nothing to worry about. It was still embarrassing though.
it’s happend to me. in leominster, ma on april 3rd and martch 27 th too.
but the manager made it work for me
I have not had any problems printing or using them. I use them every time I can print.
This makes me nervous to use my coupons… Should we hold them until you hear back from EBF rather than trying to use them? I know I have multiple e-mails and relatives so I have a handful of them. Last time they were available I used them without a problem so I hope that isn’t wrong. I am pretty new to couponing though.
I would hold off if you are the least bit worried about how your store will handle it. Or you could try just one and see what happens.
I tried to use mine 4/5/13 in the Brunswick ME Shaws. I was told it was possibly fraudlent according to a screen on the computer. I was not allowed to use the coupons. Always scanned okay in the past but it always took off just the price of the carrots and no overage. I try to print in Quick mode to use less ink I don’t know if this was the case with thses coupons or if it makes a difference at the store.
I just checked the side of the coupon which says to go to Verifymycoupon.com and enter the code under the QR code. I did and the both came up Valid. I also noticed in the section that says Consumer: the last line says COUPON MAY NOT BE DOUBLED. I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem.
I had it happan at Shaws, Concord, NH (Ft. Eddy Rd.) last weekend. I was using 2 and they both came up ‘ possibly fraudulant’ according to cashier. Manager checked on some list on a clip board. Then came back and put it through but only to price of carrots (no overage). I’m one who told you this last week, so don’t double count me.
i used mine today and they went through no problem
Mine came up as Fraudulent Alert and they didn’t want to take the coupons. Littleton NH, I think the manager knew of the problems because he told me it wasn’t my fault but he was unable to take the coupons.
Happened to me too…cashier knew me and pushed it through.
My second one came up as a fraudulent coupon. The cashier called the manager over, and she checked it and then forced it through. This was at the Shaw’s supermarket in Carver, MA.
Whenever I print it, the second one says “whoops, you have exceeded your print limit”, even though another coupon prints.
On the Applegate coupon it states limit one coupon per customer. I don’t know what it says on the EF coupons because I already used them.
