Santa’s Reindeer Christmas Cookie Food Craft
a General Mills Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

Round store bought cookies of your choice (or bake your own)
Chocolate morsels
White fudge-covered pretzels, halved (see my tips below)

Any small round brown candy (for nose, see my tips below)

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Melt morsels as directed on package. If no directions, heat on microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Heat additional 10 seconds at a time and stir until melted.

2:  Dip top of cookie into melted chocolate letting excess drip off.

3:  Place 2 pretzel halves on top of cookie for antlers.

4:  Place eyes and nose using image as a guide.

Darlene’s Tips:  You can use just plain brown pretzels. I think I’d even like that better since the sale on the pretzels would look like snow! And you can use any round red candy if you want your reindeer to be Rudolph the red nosed reindeer! If you don’t have , any white round candy will do or you could cut a mini marshmallow into slices, place on chocolate then use a chocolate chip for the pupil.

Pretzel Wreaths – Christmas Food Craft

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup white morsels
72 miniature pretzels twists
6 (24-inch) pieces red string licorice

DIRECTIONS:

1:  Line 2 cookie sheets with waxed paper.

2:  Place vanilla chips in 2-cup microwave-safe measuring cup.

3:  Microwave on Medium for 2 to 3 minutes or until melted, stirring once halfway through cooking. Stir until smooth.

4:  Using 6 pretzels, form a circle on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet, placing side of pretzel with 1 hole on outside of ring. Remove 1 pretzel from circle; dip inner section (side with 2 holes) halfway into melted vanilla chips. Place dipped pretzel back into circle formation. Continue with remainingpretzels in circle.

5:  To form top layer of wreath, dip 6 additional pretzels, one at a time, in coating. Place over first circle so that coated holes overlap 2 pretzels.  Repeat to make 5 additional wreaths. Refrigerate wreaths 15 minutes or until coating is firm.

6:  Weave 1 piece of string licorice through coated holes in each pretzel. Tie bow with licorice ends.

Darlene’s Tips:  You could tint the melted morsels red or green and you can add sprinkles too before the melted candy hardens. Just use the idea to create whatever pretzel wreaths you want!
