My Matzos Experience – Almost FREE at Shaw’s – But YUCK!

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I found what I thought was an excellent deal at Shaw’s in Sanford tonight.  They had cases of 5 boxes of Matzos, regularly priced at $15.99, on clearance for $1.25… for the entire case!

I’ve never had Matzos in my life, but I dished out $2.50 for two cases.  I figured it was a cracker and I love any kind of cracker so I didn’t want to buy one case only to have to go back to get more, so I bought two at once.

This is indeed a cracker.  A huge cracker.  Each cracker is the size of the box, about 8 inches square.  I would love, love, love these (super crisp)… but they look and taste like a burnt toast!  I mean really burnt.  Not just a little burnt, but burnt like I can’t get the taste out of my mouth burnt.  Burnt like if you scrape a burnt toast and eat just the black stuff that you scrapped off kind of burnt.  I’m talking burnt.

Is this normal for Matzos?  I would not even want my mother to feed this to the birds and squirrels!  I even ate mints after and still can’t get the taste out of my mouth and my tongue feels kind of numb…much like I do.

My Mini Shopping Trip to Shaw’s and Walmart – Only 42 CENTS

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

Before I brag about my shopping trip, I must confess that I screwed up!!!  I bought the wrong carrots.  I didn’t even realize it until I put them in my refrigerator after taking the picture and noticed they did not match the bag of Earthbound Farm carrots that I already had in the fridge.  I know for a fact that they had the Earthbound Farm carrots and these Bunny Luv carrots mixed together the other day when I priced them. Today I just went to that same section and grabbed 4 bags without even noticing. They rang up at the same price and the coupons worked.  I’m certainly NOT promoting that you grab the wrong brand.  I just need to explain that I goofed and I feel quite stupid now.

I paid 42¢ for everything you see.  I got everything at Shaw’s for FREE and I only paid 42¢ at Walmart.  Here’s how I did it:

at Shaw’s

Did you hear??? Shaw’s allow overages now!!!

I bought this stuff:
(4) lbs carrots (with my head hanging low), $1.29 each
(4) boxes Mueller’s elbows, $1.00 each
(3) boxes Wholly Guacamole in reduced produce, $1.00 each (WOOHOO!!!)
(4) vine ripe tomatoes in reduced produce, $1.38
(3) onions in reduced produce, $.75
I used these coupons:
(4) $.75/1 Earthbound Farms product (also here)
(4) $.55/1 Mueller’s pasta
(3) $1.50/1 Wholly product (NLA, but you can get $1/1 Wholly now)
Final price was FREE
I’m looking at my receipt and I see that one of my Mueller’s coupons did not double but the carrot coupons doubled to $1.50 so my subtotal was -.06 and -.15 tax so -.21.  I could have grabbed a candy bar of something but I was determined to not spend any money so I just left with my free food.

at Walmart:

I bought this stuff:
(4) Schar Hazelnut Wafers, $1.67 each
(2) spices at $.50 each
(1) spice at $.74
I used these coupons:
(4) $2/1 Schar product
Final price was $.42
Walmart has always allowed for overages and will even give you cash back in your hand but once again, I had a cashier who insisted they do NOT allow it and she wanted to adjust my coupons to $1.67 off.  I had her call the manager over. Thank goodness the manager knew their policy!

I got my FREE Chinet Napkins at Ocean State Job Lot

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

After I got my four 25¢ bags of Lifesaver Mints today at Walgreens (still on a Walgreens high!), I swung by Ocean State Job Lot to pick up my FREE Chinet Napkins!

Since they do not pay overage at OSJL, I didn’t bother to use the store coupon. I only used the manufacturer’s coupons… made them FREE!

Here’s the deal at Ocean State Job Lot:

Buy (2) Chinet Napkin, reg price $1.00
Use (2) $1/1 Chinet Coupon (join Club Chinet)
Final price is FREE for 2 packs of napkins!

My First Walgreens Purchase – I’m Going to LOVE Walgreens

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I stopped by our new Walgreens in Sanford and fell in love. The store is huge and the employees are awesome.  And the managers were very happy to chat about couponing with me.  They are very coupon friendly and I can’t wait to start bringing you more Walgreens deals!

Today I got my Lifesavers Mints.  I posted about this Lifesaver deal only yesterday, so the coupons might still be available!

Here’s the deal at Walgreens through 4/14… hurry!

Buy (2) bags Lifesavers B1G1 FREE, $2.49
Use (2) $1/1 Lifesavers Printable Coupon
Final price is $.49 so only $.25 per bag… sweet!

I had 4 coupons so I was able to pick up 4 bags for just a buck plus tax!  Not too shabby for my first trip :O)  I also picked up their April Savings Book and can’t wait to look through the coupons. Walgreens, here I come!

I had a blast passing out coupons at Hannaford tonight!

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

I had so much fun handing out coupons at Hannaford tonight. The coupons from the Hannaford booklet that came out last fall are expiring next week, so I want to make sure every single one that I have left gets put to good use. Tonight, I hung out at the registers at Hannaford (yes, coupon geek) and passed coupons out to everyone who had Hannaford and/or My Essential items.  I also brought lots of $2 off coupons with me too and handed those to everyone I could find.

During one of my trips through the register, I had a woman directly in front of me and a young couple directly behind me. Their purchases were small, which was perfect because it made the coupons look more impressive. The woman in front of me had a total of $4.15 and had one My Essential item so I gave her $2 off and $1 off and she ended up at $1.15 and you would have thought she won the lottery! The couple behind me had a higher total, $7.53, but I was able to get it down to $4.53 with a $1 off and the $2 off. They were equally happy.

I also passed out coupons to shoppers in the store and even ran into another couponer who follows my blog!  And I also saw my couponing cousin!  On my way out, I spotted the woman who was so happy to get her total down to $1.15 and I gave her more coupons to help her out over her next few transactions. That got me a bear hug and a big old kiss on the cheek!  LOL  She really was sweet.
