What I’m Watching On TV Tonight – The Holiday with Jude Law and Cameron Diaz

NOTE:  I still watch TV like in the olden days!  I don’t watch DVDs.  I don’t record stuff to watch later.  I don’t watch online.  I’m a dinosaur!  If you are too, hang out with me to see what I’m watching!

One of my favorite movies is on tonight, The Holiday staring the most handsome Jude Law!  This is also one of my mother’s favorite movies too (we have lots of favorites) so she will for sure be watching too.  She thinks Jude Law is HOT!  (yes, that kind of hot!)

I think my favorite scene is when they are all in the tent, as seen above.  Just such a sweet movie and funny too!  If you have not seen it yet, you might want to check it out!

On TV Monday, 12/26 on Lifetime at 8:00pm eastern time.

Easy 2-Ingredient Eggnog Pancakes Recipe – Great Way to Use Up Leftover Eggnog!

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

eggnog-pancakes recipe betty crocker darlene michaud

NOTE: I get messages asking me why I post these types of recipes while I’m following a zero carb animal kingdom only food plan.  My answer is because I’m following ZC, but I bet you’re not! Just because I eat a certain way does not mean I have to limit myself to sharing only meat recipes. I’m not the carb police! lol

Be sure you check out what I eat everyday!!!

Easy Eggnog Pancakes Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups Original Bisquick mix (or store brand)
1 1/2 cups eggnog
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Darlene’s Tip: You could also use boxed pancake mix if that’s what you have on hand.  Or use any pancake recipe but use eggnog for whatever liquid the recipe calls for.  Make a big batch then freeze them.  You can pop them in the toaster to heat if you make them small enough to fit your toaster.

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1:  Stir together pancake ingredients until blended. Pour slightly less than 1/4 cupfuls batter onto hot greased griddle. Cook until edges are dry. Turn; cook until golden.

What I Ate Yesterday – Day 39 – My Christmas Dinner!!!

Yesterday – Sunday 12/25 – Day 39

I had my usual cup of coffee with hwc when I got up.  I do this pretty much every single day.

At 1:30pm, just like the day before, I was in the mood for just beef!  So I sliced some up and that was my delish Christmas lunch!  I love it rare.  I actually love it even more rare than you see above, so now I’ve learned to cook on each side for only about 30 seconds each then I turn the burner off and just let it sit in the hot pan for a bit.  This was cooked in butter.

NOTE:  I seem to be going through a stage of wanting just beef with no variety.  I eat whatever meat I’m in the mood to eat, so if my body is asking for just beef, it gets just beef!  Beef seems to be the favorite meat among the ZC vets in this group.  It just feels so right for me too! So incredibly satisfying!

At 2:30pm, I had a decafe with heavy whipping cream.

At 5:30pm, I wanted beef again, but this time I had a plate full of ground beef cooked in butter.  I would have preferred more sliced beef, but I wanted to cook the ground beef that I had, so that’s what I ate.  I cooked it in butter and poured the butter/fat mixture over my plate of ground beef just for that special touch.

NOTE:  My mother feasted all day on her favorite things, spaghetti with sauce, cake, chocolates, and more.  I’m the one who prepared all that for her.  It did not bother me one bit to be around that food.  No tasting at all.  I never even licked a finger!

At 6:30pm, I had another decafe with HWC.  I don’t usually have that much coffee in one day, but it was my extra special Christmas treat.  And I make my decafe very weak now.  I seriously tried just hot water and HWC but it was too blah, so I still add a tiny bit of instant coffee for the flavor.

At 11:00pm, I got hungry again, so this time I went back for more sliced beef! And that is when I tried my new cooking method of just 30 seconds on each side then turn the burner off and let it sit for a bit.  So incredibly wonderful!

Food that entered my mouth yesterday:  sliced beef, ground beef, butter, light cream, heavy whipping cream, coffee, salt, pepper, lots of water.

Monday Chat – New Quilt Soon, How I Survived Christmas plus Why I Ditched the Scale!

chat-monday

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonder Christmas!  I did.  I was so relaxed.  I sewed the entire weekend.  I’m almost done an quilt.  It should be finished today.  I was totally going to do a tutorial on how to make this, but I wanted to try it on my own first.  Glad I did, because it turned out to be not as easy as I liked.  At least not for the size I made.  I will, however, be able to teach you how to make the panels. Then the panels can be used in a smaller project, like a tote or a baby blanket.  Stay tuned!

For those of you wondering, yes, I ate only meat for the holiday!  My mother had her favorite dish, thin spaghetti with sauce.  I made her a delish tomato sauce with ground beef, mushrooms and onions. She ate that for both lunch and dinner.  She also had plenty of sweets including cake and chocolates.  I skipped all that!  You can see what I eat every single day in this blog series.

For sure, today I want to try to finish my quilt, then not too sure what else I’ll do.  I might go out.  If I do, I’ll take you with me!  I took the night off from Youtube last night, but I totally plan on having a video for you tonight.

Also, I know many of you are waiting for me to weight myself on New Year’s Day because I had planned on that.  But I changed my mind because that’s just a foolish plan!  No need to weigh myself because it means nothing to me.  You can watch this video to learn why I ditched the scale!

Have a great Monday!

Darlene

Yesterday – Saturday 12/24 – Day 38

I had my usual cup of coffee with hwc when I got up.

At 1:30pm, I was in the mood for just beef cooked in butter so that’s what I had!  I ate every bit of the beef you see above.  It was absolutely delish and I’m quite sure that’s what I’ll be having for lunch again today. This is just a cheap top round roast that I got at Hannaford for only $2.49 per pound.  I have to keep my eyes open for the next sale on this cut!  Just wonderful!

At 7:30pm, I had a plate full of meat leftovers that I saved over the past two days.  The plate was full and I ate almost all of it.

At 8:00pm, I had a decafe and I recorded this Christmas Eve video where I talk about holiday depression, body acceptance and I even swore! lol  People have been asking me to let loose and really be myself, so that’s what you’ll be getting for 2017, the real me, potty mouth and all!

At 1:00am, I ate the very last bit of my deli meats and also finished the meat that was left on my plate from dinner.  I had my usual swig of cream and hit the hay!

Food that entered my mouth yesterday:  sliced beef, ground beef, hot sausage, bacon, pork tenderloin, deli roast beef, deli turkey breast, butter, light cream, heavy whipping cream, coffee, salt, pepper, lots of water.

Sunday Chat – Merry Christmas! Meat for Me and Spaghetti for My Mother!

merry-christmas

It’s Sunday!  It’s Christmas!

I hope you are all enjoying your day.  If not, if you’re down and out, please watch this video that I recorded last night. Many are sad or depressed over the holidays.  Give yourself permission to just be sad if that’s what is happening. Don’t feel less-than simply because you are not acting a certain way.  You act your way!  Always!

I woke up in a good mood.  I will be spending my day sewing and knitting.  And the only feast I’ll be eating is meat.  I’ll be making my mother’s favorite spaghetti for her Christmas dinner, complete with a meat and mushroom sauce.

Derrick sent me a few pics of his Daddy/Daughter Christmas!  I’ll be sharing those a bit later.  First, I need to fully wake up and start my mother’s spaghetti.

Have a great Sunday!  Remember, if you’re sad, it’s just another day!  NO pressure!

Darlene
XOXO

What I Ate Yesterday – Day 37 – Important Message Inside – I’m Ditching the Scale!

Important!  Please Read!

I totally changed my mind about weighing myself on the first of the year.  I know I’m not losing weight, and there is not one ounce of me that wants to feel disappointed by that.  Old habits die hard, and that scale is a bad habit!  I’m perfectly fine if I never lose weight.  Really, I am.

Would it be nice to lose enough weight to go on a roller coaster again?  Yes, that would be super fun.  But it’s not as fun as feeling good.  I actually feel like I’m living now instead of merely existing.  I’m trying hard to enjoy my life and I don’t want my success be determined by a number on a scale.  You know what I mean, jelly bean?

The only reason I even considered weighing myself like a sideshow attraction is because so many people automatically assume I’m eating this way to lose weight.  And many people (most, even) do lose weight eating this way.  But it’s slow going because it takes a long time for the body to readjust to what it was meant to eat in the first place.  Meat (or so I believe, ’cause I’m such a meathead!)

This is not a quick fix for obesity.  But for many, including myself, it can be a quick fix for mental health issues including depression and crippling anxiety, not to mention inflammation, joint pain, migraines, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and soooooo much more.  And let’s not forget one of the most important things… complete loss of cravings!  Meat really is a magic pill.

I’m at a point in my life where I’m finally happy being exactly who I am weight wise.  Why on earth should I even think that my size needs to be changed?  I’m perfect!  As is!  You’re perfect!  As is!  Okay, maybe perfect is too strong of a word because NO ONE is actually any form of perfection, at least the kind of perfect we have in our minds.  But we really are worthy of loving ourselves exactly as we are.  Aren’t we?  I AM!

So I’m ditching the scale and NOT caring about a number makes me feel even more successful, more free!  I love being free to be me!  I know many will still think my focus should be on weight loss because we are trained to think obesity equals bad health, but like I’ve said before, I’m going to die no matter what.  Even “healthy” people die!  I’m determined to live the best life I can live before death happens.

Yesterday – Friday 12/23 – Day 37

I had my usual cup of coffee with hwc when I got up.

At 1:00pm, I ate the vision of beauty that is pictured above. Okay, I know many think it’s gross, but it’s beautiful to me because it’s how I fuel my body, so I look at it through loving eyes!  I had a nice mix of meat in there and they are listed below.  I ate almost all that you see on that plate.

NOTE:  You do not have to eat a variety of meat when you eat this way.  Seems like the majority of zero carbers animal kingdom only favor beef, as I do.  But I also enjoy variety.  And remember, no measuring, no counting calories, so holding back. You eat until you’re satisfied!

At 4:00pm, I had a decafe with HWC.

At 7:00pm, I ate some deli meat until I was satisfied.

At 10:00pm, I ate more of the meat mix that you see above.  I ate it cold this time.

At 2:00am, I got hungry again (did a ton of sewing yesterday and was up very late) so I ate more deli meat and had a swig of cream and finally went to bed.

Food that entered my mouth yesterday:  ground beef, hot sausage, sliced beef, bacon, pork tenderloin, deli roast beef, deli turkey breast, butter, light cream, heavy whipping cream, coffee, salt, pepper, lots of water.
