Easy Frosted Reindeer Brownies Recipe

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

NOTE: I get messages asking me why I post these types of recipes while I’m following a zero carb animal kingdom only food plan.  My answer is because I’m following ZC, but I bet you’re not! Just because I eat a certain way does not mean I have to limit myself to sharing only meat recipes. I’m not the carb police! lol

Be sure you check out Darlene’s Concoctions!!!

Easy Frosted Reindeer Brownies Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

1 box (18.3 oz) Betty Crocker fudge brownie mix
(plus water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box)
2/3 cup Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting (from 16-oz container)
9 miniature pretzel twists, broken in half
18 Betty Crocker Candy Shop candy eyeballs
9 Junior Mints chocolate candies

Darlene’s Tip:  You do not have to use brand name ingredients. Just use the image for inspiration and use whatever you have on hand for decorations.

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1:  Heat oven to 350°F. Line 13×9-inch pan with foil, letting foil hang 2 inches over sides of pan. Spray foil with cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box. Spread in pan.

Step 2:  Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out clean. Transfer to cooling rack to cool completely in pan, about 1 hour. Freeze in pan 30 minutes.

Step 3:  Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan, and peel foil away. Cut out 9 gingerbread men using 3-inch gingerbread man cookie cutter. Gently push brownie out of cutter each time. Set aside end pieces for snacking. If cutter gets sticky, wipe clean with damp paper towel before cutting again.

Step 4:  For each brownie, turn so head is pointed down to look like reindeer face. Using knife, spread heaping tablespoon frosting over top of brownie. Attach halved pretzel twists for antlers, 2 candy eyeballs for eyes, 1 Junior Mint™ candy for nose.

What I Ate Yesterday – Day 22

READING MATERIAL:  Zero Carb Interview: Heather Crimson (I will start posting interviews with ZC’ers in case you are interested)

Yesterday – Thursday 12/8 – Day 22

When I got up, I had my daily coffee with heavy cream.  I had to get up early (9:00am is very early for me) and although I wanted to just stay put, I was able to take my mother to her appointment without too much effort. Had I eaten carbs the night before, I would have woken up with a terrible “hangover.”

At 1:30pm, I took out my handy dandy pan and warmed up some of the meat mix I made the day before (you can watch me cook it here), and I added a nice piece of chicken breast along with a wing. This was a rotisserie chicken that I purchased and had stuck in the freezer. After that was warmed up, I sliced some more beef shoulder roast and cooked that just a few minutes on each side so it was still quite rare.  I cooked in butter but I skipped the pat of butter that I usually put on my plate. Just didn’t want it.  Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I go with what my body wants at that moment.

At 4:00pm, I had a decafe with heavy cream.

At 6:00pm, I was in the mood for lean beef!  I sliced up a bunch of my beef shoulder roast and cooked it in butter, once again, cooked it rare. I ate a plateful of that.  Was so delish!  I finished that off with a shot of heavy cream topped with light cream (I still need a shot glass! lol).  Holy shit, that was fantastic!!!  I thought I was done for the night, but…

At 11:00pm I suddenly got hungry.  I cooked 4 eggs in butter along with some ground beef.  I crack the eggs on one side of the pan and put the ground beef on the other side.  After the eggs and beef cooked a bit, I started to mix them together.  For some very strange reason, I wanted pepper so I added a few sprinkles of that.  Seasonings are not optimal but are allowed if one finds they can tolerate them (they can interfere with hunger signals, so watch out for that). I only use salt once in a blue moon (because my bacon ends are salty enough) and this is the first time I add pepper.  I ate all 4 eggs and almost all the ground beef. And I had another gulp of light cream.

Food that entered my mouth yesterday:  beef (ground, shoulder roast), pork (tenderloin, bacon), chicken, eggs, cream (heavy and light), butter, coffee, pepper, water.

I’m doing this because I’m convinced that I’m overly sensitive to carbs and that I must stay away from them if there is any chance of me feeling better. Friday Chat – Derrick’s Memphis Gigs, Cooking Squash Later?

chat-friday

TGIF!

It’s a sort of a gray day! Finally!  Too much sunshine for me lately. I need a nice gray day!

I did not upload a new video last night, but for those of you in the Memphis area, I did upload Derrick’s gigs for tonight and next weekend. You can see where he’s playing here.

Yesterday, I took my mother to the dermatologist for some skin cancer spots. She gets those often.  They did 5 biopsies but they are quite sure they are all basal cell, but one on her nose will require surgery.  I hate that she has to go through that.  But we gotta do what we gotta do!

I planned on cooking a squash on camera the other day, but I recorded this meat concoction instead. I hope to cook the squash today.  Need to do the dishes first as I hate to cook unless I start with a clean area. Check back later!

Have a great Friday!

What I Ate Yesterday – Day 21

REMINDER:  I will be weighing myself for you on January 1st, so don’t forgot to come back for that! I’m not in this for the weight loss, but I know many are curious (me too) so I will be reporting my weight for curious minds!

Yesterday – Wednesday 12/7 – Day 21

Three weeks completed!  How totally quick that went by! Next thing I know, I’ll have been doing this for 3 months, and then who knows, maybe 3 years!  I don’t really look past today. Just going to do it as long as it feels right.

When I got up, I had my daily coffee with heavy cream.

At 3:30pm, I ate the awesome meal you see above. And I ate practically all of it.  I left a bit of meat on the plate.  That egg on top was the leftover egg from my late night meal the night before. And then I have my lovely pat of butter on there too.  You can watch me cook that meat here.

At 9:00pm, I was not hungry, I was not hungry, I was not hungry. Then suddenly, I was hungry!  lol  That’s how it seems to happen for me.  I was actually going to bed early but decided to cook 5 eggs in butter and added more of the lose meat that I made above.  I had quite a big serving. I ate all 5 eggs and almost all the meat that I took.  So yes, that means I had 6 eggs total in one day. That’s quite alright. No worries!

After my meal of meat and eggs, I had about 2 gulps of light cream. I went to bed quite content and woke up early (for my mother’s appointment) and I was able to get up with no headache and a much clearer head than I used to have before I started eating this way. There is hope for me yet!

Food that entered my mouth yesterday:  beef (ground, shoulder roast), pork (tenderloin, bacon), eggs, cream (heavy and light), butter, coffee, water.

chat-thursday

Happy Thursday!

I have to be super quick today because my mother has an appointment in Biddeford and we need to head out the door soon.  Why on earth did I accept a morning appointment?  What was I thinking!?!?!

Yesterday I recorded my meat mix that I cooked. I often get asked why so many kinds of meat at once. Answer: It’s what I love.  I’ll be posting what I ate yesterday when I get back from Biddeford.

I know there’s more to tell you, but I need to get out the door.  Catch you later!

Have a great Thursday!

What I Ate Yesterday – Day 20

REMINDER:  I will be weighing myself for you on January 1st, so don’t forgot to come back for that! I’m not in this for the weight loss, but I know many are curious (me too) so I will be reporting my weight for curious minds!

Yesterday – Tuesday 12/6 – Day 20

I had my daily coffee with heavy cream when I woke up. I did not feel the need for it, but drank it by habit. I make it very weak now. It’s like my taste buds can’t even tolerate it strong anymore.

At 1:00pm, I ate the vision of beauty that you see above.  I cooked some slices of beef rump roast in butter and left them rare. Then I added some of the loose meat leftovers that I had on hand. T’was quite delish!  I did not eat everything on the plate, but I got pretty close!

At 6:00pm, I cooked about a pound of the ground beef that I picked up at Walmart then I added the what was left from my lunch and warmed that all together with buttah! I had quite a plate full (almost as full as the plate above) and I ate every bit. I also drank the juice that remained. I’m honestly thinking of coming up with a hot bacon grease and butter beverage to drink before bed to warm me up at night. I bet that would be so satisfying!

At 8:00pm, I had a decafe with heavy cream.  I add just a tiny bit of instant coffee now because as I mentioned above, strong no longer tastes good.  Also, I’m trying to get away from it because coffee is a plant and is on the NOT optimal list because some can’t tolerate it, yet some can’t live without it, you know what I mean, jelly bean?  I actually tried just hot water and heavy cream, but it was a bit too blah.  This is why I’m thinking I want to try bacon grease and butter. What a nightcap! lol

At 11:00pm, I suddenly got hungry again!  I was like, what??? With all that meat in my belly?  I really had an appetite yesterday. And the rule is if you’re hungry, you eat meat. As much as you want until satisfied. And it does not matter in the beginning if you are eating out of hunger or habit or because you’re emotional or whatever. If you feel like you want to eat, you just eat. Your body knows what to do with it. So fill it up and let it do it’s thing!

So I got out of bed and cooked 5 eggs and and grabbed the deli ham.  I ate probably 10 slices of deli ham and scoffed down 4 of the eggs. Then I was too full to eat the 5th egg so I put that sucker in a baggie and it’s in the fridge. I plan on eating it with my lunch today. Oh, by the way, eggs are unlimited. Eat as many as you want. If you think that hurts your cholesterol numbers, it doesn’t. Most any doctor will now tell you that eating cholesterol has nothing to do with raising your cholesterol. If your doctor does not know this, change doctors! lol

I just realized that I did not have my nightly gulp of light cream. I think it’s because there was not one tiny bit of room left for cream after my close-to-midnight feast! lol  I woke up filled with energy and no headache.

Food that entered my mouth yesterday:  beef (ground, rump roast), pork (ground, bacon), eggs, deli ham, heavy cream, butter, coffee (reg and decafe), water.

Wednesday Chat – What Did My Doctor Say About My New Meat Obsession???

I use affiliate links in some of my posts. I may earn a commission if you use my links. Full disclosure.

chat-wednesday

Happy hump day everyone!

Yesterday, I uploaded my Tag Along with Me to Walmart video.  And while sitting in my car after taking you into the store with me, I chatted with you about my doctor appointment that I had the day before.  Want to know what my doctor said about the way I’m eating?  You must watch!

Today, I hope I can just stay put in the house. I really have some cleaning to do. And I woke up feeling quite energetic this morning. Might be the 5 eggs I ate just before bed! lol

In case you are not aware, I document every single thing I eat daily on this blog.  Just look for the posts titled, What I Ate Yesterday.

I might try to cook my squash today.  So hopefully I’ll have a concoction video for you later.  And maybe something else too!  Like I said, I’m full of energy so let the cameras roll!

Have a happy Wednesday!

Darlene
